Where is the REALLY IMPORTANT NEWS?

... the latest dirt on Paris Hilton, Anna Nicole Simpson, Michael Jackson, O.J. Simpson, and Monica Lewinsky? You know, the stories that occupy about a third of the current events discussion time on the REAL networks.

If you spent, you know, more time discussing such MAJOR EVENTS OF THE DAY, you wouldn't have time to be worrying about stuff like illegal aliens!

I agree with your sarcastic statement. Most people seems to care more about the celebrity behaviors and happenings than about issues that should have a much higher impact on our society.

That said, however, apparently insignificant people like Paris Hilton have a larger impact than one might think at first, mainly because of how they act as (in my mind) bad, but seemingly glamorous examples for our youth. Our teenagers are getting the feeling that behaving like Paris & Co is what they need to do.

But I agree with you. It would be great if we could focus on what is important, which for this forum is one of fixing the illegal alien problem.
The main problem with celebrity news is figuring out how we convince our youth, that they do not represent a valuable reality. Its fine to have dreams and work towards them, but if you think Paris Hilton is something to aspire to, like one of my own teenage daughters thought for a long time, then we have trouble.

Now, back to our regular scheduled topics. Overall, celebrity news is not worth the effort.
