Duncan says he may take on Graham
By Dan Hoover, The Greenville News

The early efforts of those amorphous Republicans quietly (?) soliciting a viable primary challenger for Sen. Lindsey Graham may have netted a contender.

"I'm praying about it," says third-term state House member Jeff Duncan, R-Laurens.

Duncan said Graham role in the just-defeated bipartisan immigration bill and the secrecy surrounding its drafting were too much for him.

"He should have backed up on that," Duncan said. "Folks are put out with him."

While he's set no timetable, Duncan said he's talking with fellow GOP legislators, congressmen, and, more tellingly, potential consultants.

Among others approached: state GOP Chairman Katon Dawson and Ralph Norman, a former state legislator from Rock Hill who failed in November to break Democratic U.S. Rep. Joihn Spratt Jr.'s iron grip on the 5th Congressional District.

Dawson and Norman rebuffed the overtures.

Norman says he had “lot of calls from people wanting me to run and people I served in the (state) House with are thinking about running.â€
