Marches provoke/awoke anger in my area, how about yours!?!

Once again it seems that the marches have the opposite effect that was wanted. My area is awake and mad as heck again. I listened to local radio and this is all that was talked about -illegal immigration. One lady said she was 'besides herself' with anger about this.

Now if this can be translated into action, new members, more enforcement of the current laws....

These are the comments from our Talk of the County page in our paper. There haven't been comments about this issue in quite awhile. But this week that's all there is. Congrats marches on gaining the side of right more members.

    Not our job

Wake up America! The Mexican government is responsible for providing their citizens with jobs, healthcare and education, not the United States. Corporate America has sent thousands of our jobs to Mexico. Illegal aliens in this country also take our jobs away from American citizens. They are a burden. They don't pay taxes.

    Unbelievable

In response to the individual who used the phrase "nothing but Mexican businesses left" to describe Waukegan - do you not see how blatantly racist your remark was? Unbelievable. Please, check your hate at the door Lake County.

    Easy question

Anyone who crosses our borders without going through the proper channels is a person who has broken our laws. Nothing more should be said of that fact; they are criminals. What part of that equation is so hard to understand? I find it disturbing that the people who have crossed into our country illegally do not understand they have broken the law; they act as if they are entitled in some strange way.

    No rights

I am sick of hearing how we need the Hispanics. The illegals shouldn't have any rights. When will Washington wake up and smell the roses?

    No reform

Why do we need immigration reform? So that we can accommodate the wishes of illegal immigrants may be too simplistic. So that we can increase the voting pool for Democrats and maintain their positions in public offices, maybe too partisan. "Liberty and Justice for all", is how I want to look at it. Justified or not, their flight is not just of legalization but one of survival and maintenance of some semblance of human dignity. Who wouldn't want a better life for himself and his family? Isn't that what the pilgrims did too when they left the old country for this new world?

    Long term

I just finished reading the article on Josefina Macias, "I want to help them". I was wondering why it took her 27 years to become a citizen?

    Wrong argument

I'm sick to death of this fallacious argument against immigration laws, "it separates families!". Well, a lot of things do that. My family is separated too, for other reasons beside citizenship, such as finding employment. Divorce will separate families as well as obligatory military service, etc. The fact of life is that today it's almost impossible to keep any family physically together for very long, and neither is there a divine law granting a person the right of family togetherness. So enough already.

    The law

Enforce the current immigration laws because:
    1. Illegals are not suppose to be in this country anyway, that's why they are illegal.

    2. Illegals are not allowed to have a job in this country, so continue workforce raids and heavily fine and give jail time to those that hire them.

    3. Illegals are not allowed to drive on the road without a driver's license because of SSN.

    4. Close all loopholes that allow illegals to establish a footing in society.

All of these laws are currently on the books. If Congress, law enforcement and the border patrol would do their jobs, we wouldn't have 12 million or more illegals walking around society.

    Abiding

I'm just not understanding what part of "illegal" people and the government don't understand. They are ILLEGAL and should be deported.

    About time

Immigration is once again coming to the forefront of the news. One would think that the government would do something about it after more than three decades of administrations and congresses ignoring the problem. There is one very troubling aspect that is rearing its ugly head. It seems that the law is meaningless. There are almost three hundred million people in the country who accept the law of the land but there are about 10 million who do not accept the law in spite of the fact that they are in the country illegally.

    Waste of time

I think the immigration rally that is going to be happening on May 1 is a waste of time because illegals want the same rights as legals do. My grandfather came in many years ago and became legal. What is their problem? Why is that girl still in that church in Chicago being harbored? You're doing it just because you want to be out here.

    No reason

As far as the march, I am against it. I don't know how illegal people have any rights whatsoever. I wonder who is going to clean up the mess after it is over. They have been here long enough to have a desire to become citizens. There is no reason for people to be illegal for as long as some of them have been.

    12 million exceptions

We have immigration laws and have had for eons in this country. Everyone who is legal has abided by these laws. Every time there is something that isn't comfortable with them they want to change it. Why is it OK for some to abide and have 12 million exceptions that don't?

    Disability fraud

For all the hardworking people out there. Let's make sure our tax dollars are being put to work. Turn in the bums that are committing disability fraud.

    We don't get to vote

I am tired of listening to how great these Hispanics are. I don't care how little they make, they take the money that could be used for something else. We don't get to vote on it, because if we could, not one penny of my money would go to them.

    How dare you

To everyone that marched in the immigration rally: How dare you! I'm an American, I was born here, I have these rights that you are coming here and demanding. I'm the one that can't get a job because you're taking them. How dare you.

    Go back

Sick and tired of freeloaders, illegals taking days off to protest. If you can't take the heat, stay out of the kitchen. Go back to where you came from.
