I have a place in Nevada and when Harry was talking about the need for immigration reform I sent him an e-mail. I told him that the smelly people are coming with pitch forks and torches to get the monsters etc. What a joke with Americans losing millions of jobs he has the nerve to send me this crap.

Dear MR. XXX:

Thank you for contacting me regarding immigration. I appreciate hearing from you.

I have been a strong supporter of immigration reform that is tough on lawbreakers, fair to taxpayers and practical to implement. Immigration reform should not only strengthen our borders against terrorists, drug traffickers and illegal entrants, but should also make our laws more realistic so that they can be more effectively enforced.

Despite efforts to pass a comprehensive immigration reform measure (S. 1639) in the 110th Congress, the legislation was blocked from coming up for a vote on June 28, 2007. As a result, the Senate was unable to enact legislation that would have strengthened border security, put in place an effective and efficient employer verification system, designed a new worker program to take pressure off the border, and required immigrants here illegally to apply for legal status, pay taxes, learn English, and pass criminal background checks, or face deportation. Instead, by doing nothing, our country is left with the same problems that have plagued our broken immigration system for years.

As you know, on January 6, 2009, I introduced the Stronger Economy, Stronger Borders Act of 2009 (S.9) which seeks to provide more effective border and employment enforcement, prevent illegal immigration and reform avenues for legal immigration. In the meantime, please be assured that I have taken note of your concerns and I will keep them in mind should this or any related legislation come before the full Senate.

Again, thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with me.
