THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION IS ACTIVELY WORKING TO TAKE AWAY YOUR SECOND AMENDMENT RIGHTS

For two years, we've been hearing from U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder and others in the Obama administration about a so-called 'iron pipeline' of American guns across the border.

In order to make sure that "pipeline" really existed, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF), allowed about 1,765 firearms over 15 months to go from gun dealers in the U.S. to straw buyers that were the accomplices of a gun running ring set up by the ATF.

Gun shops wanted to stop the questionable sales, but ATF encouraged them to continue.

Senator Charles Grassley (R-IA) has launched an investigation into Project Gunrunner, and now Rep. Darrell Issa, Chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform has launched his own inquiry.

The more information we find out about this investigation, the more disturbing the findings.

Darren Gil, the former ATF attache to Mexico, tells CBS News the gunrunner operation was approved by the acting ATF director and by higher officials at the Justice Department, and that Assistant Attorney General and head of the Criminal Division Larry Breuer knew about it.

In early 2010, serial numbers from guns used in drug cartel crimes were traced back to the "Fast and Furious" case in Phoenix. Gil went to look into it, but could not get access to any information.

He had been locked out.

Gil was supposed to approve every ATF operation involving Mexico, but he didn't approve this one. And he couldn't find out anything about it.

Making matters even more tragic, assault rifles found at the scene of U.S. Border Agent Brian Terry's death in December, and Immigrations and Customs Enforcement Agent Jamie Zapata's death in February, were traced to these ATF "gun runner" sales.

Two brave United States servants, killed by guns supplied to their murderers by the ATF, probably under the watchful eye of both President Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder---although Obama denies it.

The Justice Department, which oversees ATF, says the agency has never knowingly allowed the sale of assault weapons to suspected gunrunners.

But all the evidence suggests otherwise. This is a cover-up at the highest levels of our government!

We will keep pressure on Congress to find out the truth.

The ATF is under threat of a 13% budget cut. They claim funding cuts will hurt their efforts to prevent firearms trafficking on the Mexican border---trafficking that they themselves have manufactured.

What do you think was the purpose of Project Gunrunner?

Is the Obama administration trying to gain more funding for the ATF?

Did they want to use this false information as an excuse to increase gun regulations?

Or did they want to use this "data" to reinstate the assault weapons ban?

There is no way around it; this administration will do whatever it takes to destroy our Second Amendment rights!

While the Obama administration was blaming our gun rights for the drug war violence in Mexico, its very own gun sting operation looks to have been a major source of illicit firearms.

ATF officials refused to grant CBS News an interview when CBS started looking into the allegations of corruption... but whistleblowers within the agency have been more than willing to speak out about what they saw. However, most of them don't want to be quoted by name for fear of retaliation.

One agent asked a superior, "Are you prepared to go to the funeral of a federal officer killed with one of these guns?"

Another agent said, "We were fully aware the guns would probably be moved across the border to drug cartels where they could be used to kill."
Another agent said, "With the number of guns we let walk, we'll never know how many people were killed, raped, robbed... there is nothing we can do to round up those guns. They are gone."

And yet another simply called the operation, "insane."

Acting ATF Director Kenneth E. Melson has not cooperated with the investigation. Senator Grassley told CBS News he is being "stonewalled" in his efforts to find out information.

The White House has "no comment."

But Obama DID end up giving a comment---just not to the American people. He talked with Jorge Ramos of Mexico's Univision network:

Barack Obama: "First of all, I did not authorize it. Eric Holder, the attorney general, did not authorize it."

Ramos: "Well, who authorized it?"

Barack Obama: "We don't have all the facts. This is a pretty big government, the United States government. I've got a lot of moving parts."

Obama is pretending he knew nothing about this operation. I find that highly unlikely.

We are seeing the lengths this administration will go to, in their efforts to take away our gun rights. This will not stand.
