My endorsement of former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee was not decided over night

Dear MinuteMen and Women,

We have long struggled together to encourage those in power in the Federal government to follow the rule of law and secure our borders and enforce U.S. immigration laws. We have had great success in bringing this issue directly to the American public in the absence of leadership by our political governors in Washington, DC.

Now, as the Presidential Election of 2008 draws near we have a unique opportunity to raise our collective voices at those candidates who wish to lead America for the next four years.

We cannot just stand by and allow any candidate who wants to lead our country to not make a stand in defense of our sovereignty.

That is why for the last several months I have been actively seeking more information about the history, record, and future plans of all the major candidates for President of the United States.

It is important to speak honestly about who has the best possibility of being elected to the White House and, of those possibilities, which one will serve the goals and objectives of Minutemen everywhere.

I understand that by personally immersing myself in the presidential political debate I will upset some of you in the Minuteman movement. That is an expected consequence of being involved in political activism and I am prepared for that consequence.

However, I cannot allow personal preferences, whether it is my own or that of my fellow allies in the battle to defend the borders of our country, to disallow what in all fairness is “political realityâ€

This email once again shows what an idiot and how easily manipulated Gilchrist is.

So all Huckabee had to do was a little butt kissing and Gilchrist is all over him?

More smoke and mirrors from the elitists that have bought and paid for another puppet.

Haven't seen that much bullcrap in one place in, ahhhh, at least 2 hours!!!!

I can't believe I ever thought Gilchrist was a true leader. How could he possibly expect anyone to believe he did months of research considering how bad Huckabee looks when you ACTUALLY DO THE RESEARCH!

Real leaders don't get all weak in the knees just because Mr. Big calls. Gilchrist is acting like an intern.

William, you should have warned us all to have on our chest waders because the BS flowing from this article is already up to my hips!

Gilchrist you are a fool. Chuckabee will do nothing for his poor illegal minions but give them everything they want. Please remove any affiliation from yourself and the Minutemen groups because you are not worthy of having this label. You are no patriot and I am offended that you would even classify yourself in this category.

Gilchrist has lost much, if not all, of his credibility on illegal immigration.

Huckabee, along with Giuliani and McCain, still firmly believe in amnesty, whether they are "touchback" or special "pathway" schemes. Any three of these candidates would be terrible on illegal immigration and would only make the crisis worse.

Huckabee is now using Gilchrist's endorsement as (phony) "street cred" on this issue of vital importance. Spread the word not to give a dime to Gilchrist, and that he doesn't speak for the vast majority of pro-enforcement adherents and Americans on this issue.
