    DEAL OR NO DEAL

We were watching Deal or No Deal tonight and it really irked me. The contestant was Hispanic and about a quarter of the way through she started speaking Spanish. I wanted to shut it off, but my husband wanted to see how far it would go. Bottom line is, by the end of the show, the models were talking to her in Spanish also. I tried to go to NBC and write a nasty email, but they required you to take a long survey and when it finished there was no place for comments. I just need to vent, I will not be watching this show again.

How did Howie handle it? It's disrespectful on national tv in an English speaking nation.

If she won any money, the IRS will be waiting for their share.

Howie looked uncomfortable, but went along with the flow. Funny thing is, she was doing really well until she switched to Spanish, then her luck left.

Complain with their patronizers. Tell them that you are not buying their products because they sposored a show in spanish in a english channel and you feel discriminated and offended by them (the patronizers). Do the same they do with us.

Give me a break. What's a little Spanish, German, Italian, or Polish? My Grandmother spoke Hungarian, my Grandfather German, the neighbors Russian. Should they have worn an ankle bracelet and been confined to the house? Should my grandparents have whispered, so as not to upset someone from hearing a foreign tongue?

My sister-in-law is from Peru. Her English is better than mine. She also knows French. Should I tell her to only speak English ?

Half the guys I use to work with were from Macedonia. We didn't prevent them from speaking their native language.

I visited Japan and took the effort to learn some Japanese.

    All these people were/are LEGAL.

SPEAKING a foreign language doesn't mean someone is illegal.

I for one, for like to see Engliah our official language, but we should never silence those legal residents that know and use their native langauge. I believe it's still called FREEDOM of SPEECH !

IMO our focus is on illegal aliens from all countries.

IT'S VERY RUDE TO SPEAK ANOTHER LANGUAGE IN THE PRESENCE OF PEOPLE WHO DOESN'T SPEAK THAT LANGUAGE.
WHEN YOU ARE ON LIVE TV YOU DON'T SPEAK ANOTHER LANGUAGE ALSO. YOU HAVE TO RESPECT THE PEOPLE OF THE COUNTRY WHERE YOU LIVE.
    THIS MEANS EDUCATION.

PBS is pandering to hispanics, now. More and More of their programming is about Hispanics issues, interests, etc.

I will no longer be supporting them. I don't want to watch that crap on every station.

I have seen that also, my little guy's list of shows no longer watched keeps growing. "Dragon Tails" is one of his favorites, and had always been in English. Now the kids on there have a Hispanic friend who is teaching everyone Spanish. This can get very confusing for my little guy who so far has be raised to be bi-lingual. His father is teaching him Irish to keep the language alive. The only place Irish words are spoken is in the house.

I wish he would teach me, now there are two I don't understand

It all started with SESAME STREET, when they started teaching Spanish to the kids. Remember that? I do. "Abierto." "Cerrado." That's when I learned "open" and "close" in Spanish -- watching Sesame Street! LOL

But at least they were translating English to Spanish, so I could follow. Ya, if I watching Deal or No Deal, I would like to know what they were saying! What if they were cussing Howie Mandel out in Spanish? LOL!
