Should we reach out to the VFW for support?

I'm thinking about the horrifying realization that Obama will continue to push for amnesty, and before this all comes to the table, I wonder if we should reach out to as many "pro-American" organizations that we can for support? If we can gather together a strong force of reputable, well-known organizations, we can increase our numbers before we really need to speak out and fight against Obama's pro-amnesty goals.

Maybe one of the Administrators on this site can put together a formal letter or some sort of appeal to them, and ask them to join together with our group to speak out against amnesty for people that entered our country illegally, evade our taxes, and spit on our Constitution?

I really do believe Obama thinks he can "slip this one by" on Americans. However, if we plan ahead for our revolt, we can be sure to have as many Americans aware of his intentions so we can put up an even better fight!

I am quite certain the VFW would be on our side...to think of all they have done to protect and serve our country only to have a President excuse illegal aliens for their criminal behavior and disregard to our laws, I am sure they'd be willing to speak out and speak out strong!

    Any thoughts on this?

it's sad to think of war veterans struggling to get medical attention and health care here in a country they fought to protect & serve, while illegal aliens get more service & care then they do.

i have a very very bad feeling about Obama's amnesty goals, but i'm not ready to quit. i just want to get the word out quick, build our numbers, and be ready to put up one helluva fight!!!!!

I don't know about the VFW, but the American Legion has taken a very strong position against illegal immigration and offers a free report stating their reasons for doing so:

Legion releases new report to battle illegal immigration

    Story submitted on January 12, 2009 - 7:17 am

INDIANAPOLIS (January 12, 2009) - The American Legion has updated its 2007 booklet "A Strategy to Address Illegal Immigration in the United States."

In the new edition, The American Legion highlights the most critical aspects of illegal immigration and offers distinct steps to be taken by government in order to curtail illegal immigration and eliminate it in the future.

"America is a nation built by immigrants and The American Legion recognizes and celebrates that," said National Commander David K. Rehbein. "We do take strong issue, however, with illegal immigration. It's a matter of national security. The 9/11 hijackers and three of the men who plotted to kill innocent Americans at Ft. Dix were perfect examples of terrorists exploiting our weak immigration laws and our lack of enforcement. This booklet is a good reminder that America has a serious problem that needs to be addressed."

The booklet addresses topics such as overstays, crime, terrorism, education and the effects illegal aliens have on employment and wages. An electronic version of the 30-page booklet is available for download at (please see link below*). Hard copies may be requested by calling (317) 630-1212 or mailing The American Legion, National Americanism Commission, 700 N. Pennsylvania Street, Indianapolis, IN 46204.

With a current membership of 2.6-million wartime veterans, The American Legion was founded in 1919 on the four pillars of a strong national security, veterans affairs, Americanism, and patriotic youth programs. Legionnaires work for the betterment of their communities through more than 14,000 posts across the nation.

Legal Immigrants care and give, Illegal Immigrants just take!

A Strategy to Secure Our Borders

The American Legion members have served in the U.S. Armed Forces throughout the world so that Americans can be safe at home. They have witnessed poverty, political instability, disease and war in other countries. This gives them a unique perspective to the threat that open borders present to their homeland. The American Legion offers "A Strategy to Address Illegal Immigration in the United States" to raise public awareness on this crucial issue. Additional copies of the booklet are available by calling (317)630-1212. You can also request copies by writing to the National Americanism Commission, 700 N. Reach out to VFW

Absolutely we should reach out to any organization that even remotely shares our goals. There is strength in numbers and power in unity. The enemy is unified and organized. We must use every tool, every advantage that we have to stop the nonsense. This gives me an idea. If we could get disabled and non-disabled veterans of our wars to march with us on Washington in opposition to giving our country away to foreigners this would be a powerful visual and symbolic message. I am very proud of our veterans and grateful for their contributions and would be proud to march with them for the rights of Americans. Moderators, how can we make this happen?

i agree. we need to reach out to every organization that we can. our veterans are especially a unique and powerful bunch that can and will get the message across to all americans. there are kids coming back from iraq with missing limbs, with limited access to health care, and with no job opportunities. for us to be "handing over" our country to illegal aliens who are demanding rights & freedoms in a country they entered illegally is a slap in the face to the 19-year old kid missing a leg and to the 68-year old veteran who doesn't get decent access to health care.

let's put our heads together and see how we can reach out to these people, and make our voices heard BEFORE obama feeds us some bleeding-heart pro-amnesty speech. if he knows he's got a country of disabled veterans, american legion members, and good ol' hard-working american citizens fighting against him, he'll know upfront he is in for one heck of a fight......

American Legion Takes Tough Stand Against Illegal Immigration

By Tom Fredriksen, special to PipeLineNews.org

March 5, 2008 – Seattle, WA – PipeLineNews.org – Lack of progress in defending the United States’ borders has caused the illegal immigration issue to spill over into what had been service based only organizations.

Towards that end, the American Legion, with over two and a half million members, is placing its weight behind resolving the matter, calling illegal immigration, “the most important issue facing this country today."

The Old Glory Radio Network today spoke with Joe March, the National Director of Public Relations for the American Legion, concerning the organization’s recent campaign to draw attention to the national security implications of open borders. During the interview, Mr. March also addressed other aspects of the issue including crime, cost to the taxpayer, illegal immgration’s child victims and impact on the war on terror.

This new aggressive stand by the American Legion comes as a result of recommendations made by the Americanism Commission, a member based volunteer group within the Legion.

The Legion’s newfound activism on the matter has not come without controversy. March stated that while the organization has had mainly positive feedback from its members, “outside organizations" with a pro-immigration stance have criticized the move.

We need to join with every organization that shares the same view. After all, that is what LaRaza and the other major OBL organizations have been doing.
