And bring on the beautiful snow! The children of most of North Carolina did not get any time to go sledding or play in the snow last year. We had almost no frozen precipitation east of the Mountains.

I want sustained sub freezing temperatures that kills off plant, insect, and microbial life to lower the infectious disease risks, pain and suffering, energy expended fighting those, and other negative impacts of mild winters.

Parts of Michigan's Upper Peninsula get early taste of wintry weather with weekend snowfall
THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
October 08, 2012 - 5:46 am EDT
MARQUETTE, Mich. — Parts of Michigan's Upper Peninsula got an early taste of wintry weather over the weekend.
MLive.com reports (Snow blankets Upper Peninsula earlier than normal for first wintry weather of season | MLive.com ) up to 3 inches of snow fell across the western Upper Peninsula from Friday night to Saturday morning, though it didn't stick around long.
The area's first snowfall of the season came a little earlier than usual. The National Weather Service says the average first date of measurable snowfall in the area generally is Oct. 17.
Eastern parts of the Upper Peninsula also saw some snow, but little or no accumulation.
Cooler temperatures were felt across Michigan over the weekend as well. Early Monday, freeze warnings were in effect in the southern half of the state.

Yeah. I heard of it from the news. Winter is early and it is a sign that Christmas is near to come.
