Obama on immigration reform
A ray of hope, everybody. Latino columnist Ruben Navarrette is already complaining that Obama is going to do nothing about immigration reform. In today's San Francisco Chronicle (Nov 12) the headline of his column is:
"FORGET IMMIGRATION REFORM"
Navarrette moans: "Just a few days before the election CNN's Wolf Blitzer asked Obama to rank in order of priority five issues -- tax cuts, health care, energy, education and immigration. Obama made up his own list, appropriately, adding the econonmy as his No. 1 priority and dropping immigration altogether."
He goes on to say that Obama picking "Rahm Emanuel as his chief of staff is not a good sign." Emanuel in the last two years was "a major stumbling block to achieving an immigration package. Capital Hill newspapers reported shouting matches between Emanuel and members of the Democratic-controlled Congressional Hispanic Caucus who tried unsuccessfully to pressure the leaders of the party to tackle the issue. Its not that Emanuel has anything against immigrants or immigration reform. Its just politics. Emanuel decided that the issue was a loser for Democrats and that it belonged on the back burner."
He goes on to say that Obama likely will do nothing about the issue over the next 4 years. "Expect Latinos to get short-changed again."

Legal Immigrants and Illegal Immigrants are 2 DIFFERENT GROUPS, WITH 2 VERY DIFFERENT AGENDAS. Legal immigrants contribute to our country, and illegal immigrants LEECH off our country.
Face up to the fact that illegal immigrants ARE NOT GOING TO BE GIVEN CITIZENSHIP! This is a privilege and an honor that illegals to not deserve. It has to be earned. Citizenship is not given away like a prize in a carnaval. Americans are sick and tired of the arrogance and stupidity illegal immigrants show toward our immigration laws.
Considering the economic mess, the high unemployment rate, and families who are losing their homes, I HIGHLY DOUBT THAT THERE WILL BE IMMIGRATION REFORM FOR SEVERAL YEARS, IF AT ALL.RIP Butterbean! We miss you and hope you are well in heaven.-- Your ALIPAC friends

Every survey shows that African-Americans have the highest negative feelings towards illegal immigration of any sector of the U.S. And they overwhelmingly voted for Obama. I couldn't be more pleased that an Obama presidency has galvanized the African-American community, politically. And I welcome each and every one of them in the fight against illegal immigration.

Immigration reform (comprehensive type) is falling to the bottom of the list. I think Obama is smart enough to figure out that with the economic crisis, people losing jobs left and right, there is no longer a "job Americans won't do." After all who did those jobs before?

HA HA. And it was us who turned the issue into a "loser." This is a rare instance where we, the American people, stood up to those guys and let them know it wasn't going to happen. Even as both parties wanted to make it happen. They now that they're in for a dog-fight if they try and push this on us. A dog-fight they will lose. "Losers!!!!" I salute everyone at ALIPAC.
Now lets keep the pressure on, everybody. And put this issue so far back on the backburner that they can't even see it.
