Graham: Obama done 'almost nothing' on immigration

Are we surprised it would be Lindsey Graham pushing for amnesty? And I bet anything SC will re-elect this moron, as Arizona will re-elect McCain:

Graham: Obama done 'almost nothing' on immigration
The lonely leader for immigration reform legislation among Senate Republicans, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), is chafing at what he views as the White House's unwillingness to put political muscle behind the effort.

"The President promised to pass an immigration reform bill in his first year. They’ve done almost nothing in the White House on immigration," Graham said Sunday on NBC's "Meet The Press."

While the White House has been urging Graham and a Democratic colleague, Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) to craft legislation and bring it to the president, a frustrated Graham seemed to want to flip that process around.

"I urge the President to write a bill and see if he can get another Republican. See if he can convince the 16 Democrats who voted no last time," Graham said bitterly. "Let him do some heavy lifting here on immigration....Write a bill and send it to me. I'll be glad to look at it."

Among Senate Republicans, Graham has been essentially alone in working with the White House on immigration and climate change issues. However, he ridiculed suggestions that he would be the key vote to win passage of major legislation on those fronts.

"This idea that I'd be the 60th vote for immigration or climate change could not be further from the truth," Graham said, citing the significant minority of Democrats who opposed the last major immigration reform effort in 2007.

Graham's partner on the immigration issue, Schumer, was on the same "Meet The Press" segment and chuckled at some of the South Carolinian's comments. Schumer said that Graham was understating Obama's commitment to the issue.

"The President supported our framework and he'll be right up front in helping us," Schumer insisted.

The most important statement in this interview which is not in this article is Schumer saying " Illegal immigrants are taking Americans Jobs" He finally admitted it to the public, I am sure the Democrats would like to stick a sock in his mouth!!

Graham has a screw loose somewhere. And his record speaks to that.

Lindsey Graham was re-elected in 2008 but has since been "censored" by 3 different Republican committees in SC. He is walking on very thin ice there.

Many believe that he is trying to wiggle / worm his way out of supporting this amnesty bill because of the close race McCain is having in AZ.

I know people who live in AZ and they say that when Palin came out to gather support for him - people came out to see Palin - not to support McCain.

Friends I have in AZ believe that Hayworth is going to win the primary.

Also the Tea Party Express III is in Phoenix today and a key speaker is J.D. Hayworth.

He is being supported by Sheriff Joe and we all know how beloved Sheriff Joe is in AZ - he has over 80% approval by voters.

Also J.D. is being supported by other Police and Sheriff's depts.

It will be an interesting race to watch - but if this amnesty push is going thru the spring / summer - I look for McCain to loose.

It will keep in the mind of the AZ voters, fresh and up front the last battle they had with McCain and the McCain / Kennedy bill.

They DO NOT want to go thru that again.

Remember they just voted into a congressional seat - Rep Pearce, who is helping to pass some of the toughest anti-illegal immigration laws in the country.

This bill is likely to pass.
It makes it a crime of trespassing for an illegal alien to be in Airzona without a visa. McCain is mum. J.D. Hayworth is noting this stance.
    It's a state issue.

bill empowering police to arrest illegal immigrants and charge them with trespassing for simply being in the state of Arizona, is likely just weeks away from becoming the toughest law of its kind anywhere in the country.
Already passed by the state's Senate and currently being reconciled with a similar version in the House, the bill would essentially criminalize the presence of the 460,000 illegal immigrants living in the state.

The measure allows police to detain people on the suspicion that they are illegal immigrants, outlaws citizens from employing day laborers, and makes it illegal for anyone to transport an illegal immigrant, even a family member, anywhere in the state.

The bill's supporters say a local crackdown has become a necessity because the federal government has failed to adequately seal the borders or actively enforce its laws. They blame Arizona's spiraling crime and unemployment rates on its large population of illegal immigrants.

Under this year's proposed trespassing provision, a first offense would be a top-tier misdemeanor punishable by up to six months in jail. Subsequent violations would be a felony that could carry a penalty of up to 2 1/2 years in prison.

Agencies arresting first-time offenders would have the option of prosecuting them or turning them over to federal authorities.

What is so confusing is Hayworth is a tea party activist; yet the Keynote speaker last night was Sarah Falin who is campaining for McCain.

I hope your friends are correct ... now's our chance to get rid of McCain; if Palin would keep her sleezy, LaRaza owned mouth shut.
