    THE MODERN DAY IMMIGRANT

I wrote this in response to a particular persons ignorant statement:
Just so there's no confusion, Bratannicus is a username in support of taking back america.

NOW, In reference to the following statement you made.. "The ultimate irony would be learning that Britannicus descends from Roman Catholic Irish immigrants, or from Southern or Eastern European immigrants" (This would be the ignorant statement I referenced)

    This is my response:
I personally don't find that to be the least bit ironic; as we all have ancestors of foriegn origin. What I do find there to be absolute irony in, is this, which is something that you appearantly did not learn in school:
Our immigrant ancestors came here to this country with no guarantee of so much as even making it here alive. They risked death by way of illness traveling here on boats that had sub standard conditions, to say the least. They endured above and beyond risky conditions and knew they were doing so when they stepped onto those boats, with little to nothing in hand.
When they arrived, some of them knelt down and kissed the soil of this country as an obvious show of appreciation of having even made it here alive AND in recognition of the wonderful opportunity they were about to enjoy! They then stood in long lines to be "DOCUMENTED" and were proud to do so. They didn't complain about every little thing that may, perhaps have bothered them, any injustice that MAY or MAY NOT have taken place. They obviously fled their country of origin and came here....AMERICA, for a reason. They obviously felt that this was a country where their hard working efforts could and WOULD pay off. They wanted the opportunity to EARN what they worked for and did exactly that. They took whatever skills they had and went to work to secure a life for themselves AND their children.
If the children of our immigrant ancestors had even dared walk the streets of America holding a flag of their country of origin and shouted out slurrs supporting that country, while burning, stepping on and chanting degrating slurrs againt the flag of The United States......... those parents would have been ashamed! They would have felt diprespected and disregarded by their children considering everything they risked and all their hard work to provide a better life for their children. And that would be the optimal wording... "hard work", NOT welfare recipient, NOT medicade recipient, and certainly NOT second language learner recipient! They made it a goal to learn the language of the land and taught it to their children. They didn't expect government funding to public schools; paid for by everyone else, to teach their children english while they made no atttempt to learn and speak it in their homes.
In those days, those immigrants made America their "HOME" not just their legal status!
THEY BECAME "AN AMERICAN", Not an IRISH AMERICAN, NOT a GERMAN AMERICAN, NOT a ROMAN CATHOIC IRISH AMERICAN, NOR a SOUTHERN/EASTERN EUROPEAN AMERICAN, they simply, purely and PROUDLY became "AN AMERICAN". They fought in world wars against their countries of origin and FOR AMERICA! I for one, would like to thank those "immagrants of old" for they are the ones that made America what it used to be and what I hope it will soon be again!

I would advise that before you speak, you take the realities into consideration and next time try not to cloud the truths of what our immigrant ancestors went through and maybe, just maybe, you might see the difference in them and the Modern Day Immigrant!
God Bless your right to your opinion! It is a shame however that you have an opinion with so little knowledge to back it up.

I do thank you however for showing everyone how deep the levels of forgotten truths in this country really are! It's a down right shame, but one I'm gald you so untactfully have pointed out because we all need to recognize the large numbers of naive individuals that are out there and find a way to educate them. I have included a link for this reason. It is my little contribution to try and help educate those naive persons above forementioned.
