With 2012 rapidly approaching....I would not hold my breath waiting for IRS reform (per the debt commission there are 3300 loopholes) or illegal immigration.

It is disgraceful that the IRS code is incomprehensible and that it is loaded with loopholes for some. Those loopholes only got there one way -- by special interests. There is a reason it does not get addressed by the Congress and the White House: money and votes. There is no political courage to deal with it.

It is also disgraceful that we have not worked on a solution to illegal immigration. I don't pretend to have the answer to illegal immigration (I am also not in Congress or the White House so it is not my job) but I do know it is a problem. There is a reason it does not get addressed by Congress and the White House: money and votes. There is no political courage to deal with it.

Don't believe me about political courage? How about this:

The very reason we did not have a budget last year is that the politicians did not want to make tough votes that the voters would then use in the November 2010 election. A tough decision means you won't contribute to campaigns and you won't vote for that person. (money and votes.) They know it and give you all sorts of excuses. I don't buy that they are too busy. They could work harder or not accept the responsibility of the job.

We have a shortage of political courage in election cycles. It is too bad, isn't it? We hire them (elect them) not to dodge important issues or even vote "present" -- we hire them to make tough decisions.

If you agree me..ask yourself, are YOU involved? Are you involved in local politics, routinely contacting your representatives (email and phone calls do have impact)...or just sitting on the sidelines annoyed? Believe it or not, you do have a voice...but you need to use it.

I am not telling you what your position should be on either of these issues (that is for you to decide....you may agree with the Republican or Democrat position on these issues) -- what I am doing is identifying the obvious: 2 very very important issues to the American people that need to be addressed and are ignored.
