Construction Firms asking for LEGAL workers in FLA now??

Is this just subterfuge or could it be that our efforts are finally forcing a change in the employment practices for the trades? Maybe they're tired of construction site raids and fines?

I found this ad in a suburban metropolitian newspaper...

Skilled Trades Wanted: Tradesman Curtainwall/Caulking/Glazing exp. for a job in Tampa dur approx 2 years, housing & per diem provided. Must be able to work on high rise bldgs, valid SS#, drug free and must be able to pass a DHS Background check.

They're probably tired of being sued for shoddy construction practices. The housing boom brought about a lot of illegal activity in the construction industry. Chief amongst that activity was a lot of substandard housing, built by shoddy, cheap illegal alien labor and sold for enormous profits.

The 'DHS Background Check' tells me they have a government contract that requires screening of all potential employees on the project.

    (Just a hunch, IMHO)

Could be a real honest construction firm. There are some out there you know. IF they have a huge contract they don't want hitches in it, their smart to make sure so they aren't sued.

Yep, government contractor whose feet are being held to the fire (or is holding his own feet to the fire) to ensure he is hiring LEGAL WORKERS. Either which way...this is very good.
