And They Wonder Why We Want To Control Our Borders?
MEXICO CITY — The U.S. ambassador to Mexico said the United States is considering issuing a heightened travel alert in the coming days. "While there is little doubt in my mind that the travel alert should be reissued, it may also be necessary to heighten the alert to better reflect the increasing insecurity in the state of Chihuahua," U.S. Ambassador Tony Garza said. An alert issued last year by the State Department warns Americans about travel in areas of Mexico where foreigners have been targeted. The alert is due to expire April 15. Mexico has suffered a wave of organized crime and drug-related violence that killed more than 2,500 people last year.

As far as I understand the meth epidemic started in the US and then spilled over into Mexico where some people seized upon it as a money making opportunity. There has been a trail of marijuana streaming in for decades and I suppose cocaine originates farther south but is headed to a US market. Sort of a mixed bag of responsibilities. I am sorry to see the Northern Mexico area torn by drug dealing and cartels and I think the US should cooperate in cleaning up this trade.
Because so many Mexicans and Latin Americans are financially profiting from drug trades in the US we need to get all illegal border crossing shut down as quiclkly as we can. This will save local government the expense of investigating and prosecuting drug dealing. Another expense added to a long list...."Men of low degree are vanity, Men of high degree are a lie. " David

My niece just spent her spring break in Mexico with a friend. She was heavily warned by the travel agent NOT TO LEAVE THE RESORT PROPERTY. Not only was this warning told to her then, but by her father, mother and then when they arrived, by resort employees.
To me, that is not a vacation. I do not know why she even went, she could have spent her American dollars in the U.S. and gone to Hawaii, then she would have still been supporting part of the American economy, and been 100% safe to go see the sights as she pleased.
I agree with you CaptainRon, it is a dual (or more) responsibility about drugs. However, the sad thing is that there will always be someone with addictions, or the desire thereof, and someone else willing to do what they can to provide for their addictions, to profit from. The best America can do is to seal up our southern border, as efficiently and quickly as possible, and then start enforcing our laws when it comes to illegals.
Attrition through enforcement, and then start deporting ALL criminal illegal and legal/resident aliens who have committed crimes. We could do it, and it would be effective.“In the beginning of a change, the Patriot is a scarce man, Brave, Hated, and Scorned. When his cause succeeds however, the timid join him, For then it costs nothing to be a Patriot.â€

Gogo, I travel to Mexico weekly on business. Believe me, I don't like doing it and can't wait to get back into the U.S. every time I'm there. Talk about driving into the twilight zone! One minute you're in a clean, safe country, next you're in the "forbidden zone"!! No thanks. I don't want this culture and all it's baggage in the U.S. PERIOD!

It is not safe to travel to Mexico, so what would make anyone think that it is any safer to have millions upon millions of the citizens of that unsafe and crime ridden nation casually walking across our border and doing whatever here?

This is what kills me. They can't even run their own damn country, and they think they can do better here? What a JOKE! Their culture don't work there, so it stands to reason it won't work here right? According to Einstein, I'd say yes. That definition of insanity...

Hi sippy.
The reasons to have a fence grow every day. Keep the crime and danger on their side and every American who does not have a job or other reason to travel to Mexico should think twice before submitting to the possibility of becoming a tragic victim.
Things must be "really bad" if we are willing to continue to issue these strong warnings against our very good neighbors.
