Parting thought of the night...
I have thought about this a bit and have come to enjoy the sweet justice that forcing all illegals to help build our border defenses...whatever they may be... as a part of their punishment for violating our laws would be. I personally dont find this to be cruel or unusual, however even in the few months since I graduated from law school I am sure that the scrutiny given this protection has become even more liberal and wouldn't pass constitutional muster. Seems fair to me though... Am I evil?

That is an excellent idea! Trying to enforce that would be a nightmare though, unless we can get I.C.E. to be I.C.E. and do THEIR job.
The catch and release thing just isn't going to cut it, no matter how ya look at it.Pro Patri Vigilans! Death to Aztlan!!

Zach1776,
Congrats, on finishing law school, I thought Nursing school was a nightmare, I can only imagine all the material you had to memorize! We could use more people with law degrees on our side. I have a question, some of the folks here, were wondering if it was possible to sue our government for not enforcing their own laws, I guess a class action lawsuit, do you have any information that might help in that regard? Here you are, I don't know if you have passed your law boards yet, and someone already wanting free law advice, welcome to the forumBuild the dam fence post haste!

class action law suit
Congrats, Zach1776, I am an RN also. I have been wondering about a class action suit also, but have no idea what would be best. It's about time the law was obeyed. Could gov't be sued for not following it?

At first I thought it might be nice a nice idea.......but I'd be too afraid they'd secretely find a way to set up "weak" areas for future crossings, or atleast know of where those might be. Would you want hardened criminals building a prison? I'd be a tad worried.

Haven't taken my bar yet, I am scheduled to take it in July, but I already skipped it once and am reluctant as I am not a lawyer at heart (hate them frankly) and am $75k in debt from school... bar study combined will cost me another $6k minimum... Wish I could just charge it to the taxpayers like an illegal (NOT!) I subjected myself to law school in hopes of lobbying and working in political advocacy among other things. By the way, does ALIPAC need a lobbyist? I will under bid any other you can find in the spirit of this problem. But, seriously, I do need work!
Anyhoo, I, of course, am not licensed to give any legal advice, but as a purely academic question, I would say that Government officials are generally immune from most criminal sanctions unless we could prove that they knowingly and in bad faith subverted the will of the poeple in dereliction of their duties especially for personal gain. I would bet though that this would fall under the "tough shit" exception that protects stupid politicians from stupid choices. Proving intent to defraud the people or reckless disregard would be way too difficult. We can dream though...<div>* It is only when the people become ignorant and corrupt, when they degenerate into a populace, that they are incapable of exercising their sovereignty.* -- John Adams

doggonit!
Oh darn! I had high hopes! How about discrimination?
And BTW, you're too close. PLEASE finish up... then use it for good! NOT greed. Sorry, but as an ER nurse, got threatened too many times. Or at least that was my perception of 'Hello, I'm a lawyer, and I'm here for...." My response was, 'That's nice, I'm your nurse, ..." NO other patients would tell me what their occupation was, unless it was pertinent.
But keeping the USA whole and sound, is going to take courage, bravery and really 'dedicated to the cause' lawyers.
Please keep us informed, Zach1776. We're rooting for you!TIME'S UP!
