Leave it to McCain to try to "prove" Americans won't do the work. The guy can't seriously think he can run for President when he continually insults American citizens.

I'm thinking of taking up on that offer. I worked out in the hot sun for 20 years in construction in S FLA and have no problem. When McCain told the American workers they were incapable of doing this, I nearly choked and wanted to spit in his face for discracing the hardest working work force on the planet with that statement.

It isn't just about picking lettuce.....

I support a BRACERO program and not so called guest worker.

The problem with McCain's proposal is that these illegals are not just picking lettuce annd Yakima apples...they are doing construction work and undercuttinng UNION construction workers and they do restaurant work which cuts wages.

I support a Bracero program. Any Mexican MALE can come in and work for a few months and you go HOME when harvest is OVER! You bring in no WIFE or kids!! Period! The new illegal brings in the whole family and gets loaans to buy a house and SBA loans to start a Mom and Pop Mexican business or restaurant!

Think the liberal Democrat women libers would ever go for this?

Just think of all the company leaders waiting to sign up so called "guest workers" because they can pay them so much cheaper? This is shameful because we spent millions defending CAPITALISM verses Communism and Guest Worker is governement meddling in Capitalistic forces. When you have a worker shortage wages should rise on the demand just like oil on demand and shortage. AMNESTY and or guest worker is a communist type anti-capitalisttic move by goveernment is it not?

If California lettuce growers cannot find US citizens to do the job then they should have to raise wages to yes maybe $50 an hour and that is capitalism. I would pay more for my BLT but so be it! This is capitalism at work and we paid millions to defeat the Soviet Union over these principals.

Many people hate labor unnions. So why should employers be able to hire cheap labor from another country?

Is McCainn eally offering $50 an hour to pick lettuce? If he is serious he wwill have no trouble finding Americans to do it! He isn't serious is he?
The Democrats want to give the country away and the Republicans want to sell it?

Farms can't make money while paying people $50 dollars an hour to pick lettuce, so this is just a bunch of nonsense.
Lettuce is a nonessential crop that is a waste of natural resources such as land and water. This crop has very little nutritional value and is 90% water. The fact that it is consumed in an uncooked state also makes it a health hazard as documented by major news channel special recently.

I was a roofer during the 70s and can verify that no illegals were used by the company that I worked for. The flood of illegals started in 1986 with the original "give away" of benefits that was passed by our politicians at that time. BTW, these politicians had immigration laws that were enforced in their day and now have no respect for us, our country, or its laws.

    Remember in November.

I think the good Senator and a few of his budies such as Teddy, and Boxer, should try this for a weekend and learn how to be a little more humble when they are sticking it to their constituents!
