mmigration laws and Hazelton, PA.
mmigration laws and Hazelton, PA.
If the ACLU is stopping Lou Barlette of Hazleton.PS from enforcing laws against illegal aliens in his town, maybe it time to force Bush to enforce the law against hiring illegals . They will be forced to leave if they cannot work.
I thought that it is an impeachable act if the President did not enforce the laws that we already have?
Maybe we all need to blast Bush, ACLU and the Feds with emails that we want the laws enforced against illegal aliens and business that hire them.
The following is an overview of federal law on hiring and harboring illegal aliens. It is not a substitute for
professional legal counsel in specific situations.
Summary
A person (including a group of persons, business, organization or local government) commits a federal felony when he:
assists an alien whom he should reasonably know is illegally in the U.S. or who lacks employment authorization, by transporting, sheltering, or assisting him to obtain employment,
encourages that alien to remain in the U.S., by referring him to an employer, by acting as employer or agent for an employer in any way, or
knowingly assists illegal aliens due to personal convictions.
Penalties upon conviction include criminal fines, imprisonment, and forfeiture of vehicles and real property used to commit the crime.
Anyone employing or contracting with an illegal alien without verifying his work authorization status is guilty of a misdemeanor. Aliens and employers violating immigration laws are subject to arrest, detention, and seizure of their vehicles or property. In addition, individuals or entities who engage in racketeering enterprises that commit (or conspire to commit) immigration-related felonies are subject to private civil suits for treble damages and injunctive relief.

Thanks for the summary of fed law. If I read correctly, I'm not sure I
don't fault my own state & local government more. In NC, we make it
too easy to get a driver's lic. The tests are bilingual although many times
I've seen a 'coach' with an applicant. Half of my son's middle school
orientation was in spanish. The employers welcome them
with open arms, although I hear conflicting stories about what an
employer can ask, but my company requested documents to prove
residency, e.g. passport or green card & not something stupid like
an appartment lease (which NCDMV accepts.) My state gov uses
contractors who use many illegals, but watch the state workers howl
if it illegals went after state jobs. My company's landlord uses illegals
to clean the building & manicure the lawn. I don't think we should
marvel they march on the Speaker's home in Illinois, the 3rd in
command for chief fed law enforcer, because in all other areas they
are welcomed & supported. They must wonder why a few nuts
post to forums & believe the polls which report 80% support for
controlling illegal immigration.
If you ask any state or local official, they point back to the feds. I think
it's like demanding that King George's Parliment do something to free
the colonies. Our democracy sprang from a grass roots movement
against a distant caretaker government. That's why Hazelton & other
communties are encouraging. Maybe the people have a revolution or
two left in them or perhaps there are too many sunshine patriots getting
their grass cut at a good price. I hope if we roll over on this, some
folks will turn TJ's statue to look away from our seat of government
since we've turned our backs on his ideals.
