Why is there such vocal resistance to building a barrier/wall protecting our border?

I am curious why there are so many who are fixated on andagainst building a wall? Are they also against having a check point for legalentry into our country? Do they not have a locked door on their domicile?

What is the motive behind not protecting our borders?

American citizens are sick and tired of being made into tax slaves and forced to finance the personal economic needs of millions of foreigners who have invaded America’s borders.

I'm not sure - but of course, there are a lot of people who are just going to denounce anything that will possibly control the border.

Some of these people are the ones who think they are being 'oh so righteous' and care so much about the poor. They are part of the group I call 'halo-polishers'.

Also, there may be some who think as I do that the wall may be more symbolic than actually having an effect. I think that is what it will be unless it is backed by some very thorough interior enforcement, and with some real military style enforcement along with the wall.

Our government should stop welfare for illegals - except emergency health and food (until they can be deported).

If they would enforce the tax laws. Just check the 1099 against filed returns, they would find a lot of illegals as well as uncovering their illegal employers.

Severe penalties for anyone found with fake documentation. I can't understand why they are allowed to use fake SS# and driver's license. I would have thought the Patriot Act covered that. Now we have a congresscritter bragging that his parents used fake ID.

It appears something more than e-verify needs to be put in place. It obviously isn't working.
Let's don't make it complicated - simply contact the SS office. It takes about a minute for them to punch in the number and tell you the 'owner' of that number, date of birth, parents, place of birth, etc., etc. Simple.

Once identified, enforce the laws. Do not let them get away with 'contracting' with a second company, thereby providing a degree of separation between the illegals and the company.

We need to stop student loans, grants, and scholarships, paid or guaranteed by the government, to illegals.

Certainly, we need to stop the illegals and their children from receiving prefrential treatment, or front of the line placement, for jobs, school, etc.

State government needs to stop hiring illegals.
They may have a stated goal that a contractor cannot hire illegals - it doesn't say anything about 'sub-contractors' those contractors may hire. It needs to state that no illegal will work on a government project - period.

I understand Texas has a law about contractors and illegals. All you have to do is drive through a highway construction area and you see there was a loophole built into that law.

Again, I think there are a lot who just oppose anything to do with border control. Also, I think they are some, like me, that are skeptical that it may just be window dressing - and it will be without a lot more things being done.

Remember, after the defeat of Pres. Bush's amnesty bill, we were promised a fence and the Republicans were very serious about border enforcement. "wink/wink" They intended to do nothing and the promise fence was just appeasement. It's possible some of us still are not convinced it is not.

We could have National Guard on the border now, in great numbers. We don't need to wait for a wall.

The resistance is on behalf of the only group that benefits from open borders, the drug cartels. If you oppose a wall, you're against US and in bed with the cartels. There is no other explanation. Everyone knows this open border is the "gateway" for illegal drugs entering the country. Everyone knows this open border is the "gateway" for millions of illegal aliens hauled in here by the drug cartels to run drugs for them to enter our country.
