    Question bout Stolen SSN #'s

I'm just curious what happens to a person's contributions to Social Security if your number is being used by illegals. Is it a accumalitive type deal where what they pay in taxes and what u pay in taxes is added up and thats how they determine what your SS benefits would be? Or do they somehow seperate out the good from the bad?

My other question is, is there someway for me to even check to see if my SSN has ever been stolen or used by someone else.

    I asked

So let's say they stole my Social Security number. Does that mean they will now be able to loot my account without me knowing or being able to do anything about it?

I didn't really get an answer, so I'm assuming that they can clean out your account without you knowing about it.

As for the second part of your question, SS periodically sends out statements telling you the status of your account. If it's been hijacked, those statements are probably being sent to the address the hijacker used and not to you, although I don't know this for certain.

I guess you could go to your local SS office to see about your account, but then they might accuse you of trying to hijack your own account!

After all, who's to say you're really you?

The government is taking those funds that are paid in by fraudulent Social Security numbers users and putting them into some fund separate from your contributions. We do not know what fund or what these monies are used for. But you the legal holder of the Social Security number will not benefit from these monies.

you can call SS and ask them for a demonstrative of your contribuitions, i think this way you know if there has been somebody else paying your SS, or maybe the IRS they are the ones who transfer your money to SS.
