    WANTED: a Governor with guts

I am totally disgusted with the governor my state ... I have been in contact with the governor's office for almost a year.

I had a meeting scheduled in September but it was cancelled due to Katrina but I finally got a meeting scheduled in March. I met with a member of the governor's staff and proposed 'comprehensive' immigration reform that would NOT grant amnesty or guest worker programs of any kind. I have talked with various members of the governor's staff since that time that had to review my request and were responsible to 'brief' the governor.

Thinking our governor might be fed up with illegals taking to the streets of America I called the capitol again today to see if my proposal was being considered. I was told it was not.

We have a clear difference of opinion .. I do not believe these illegals have ANY RIGHTS and they don't have the RIGHT to protest in OUR streets, the Constitution and the 'Bill of Rights' are the rights of the citizens and the states.

This is an election year and at this time the governor is ahead in the polls so I guess they don't want to 'make waves.'

But I was told Alabama is the leader in the fight against illegals -- I don't think so.

Anyway, I wanted to know if the governor of Mississippi or Tennessee might have a spine and reject the argument that enforcement of immigration law is the 'exclusive province' of federal government. This is a state's rights issue plains and simple.

I know the Governor Sonny Perdue of Georgia signed a bill that would allow state and local law enforcement to detain arrestees for federal immigration law violations -- this is in line with my proposal, but it is only the tip of the iceberg. I would love to meet with Governor Perdue if he is willing to take a stand for the citizens and the states.

    any ideas?

Our governor Mitt Romney will be running for president in 2008, he just passed that healthcare bill, which does require all medicaid recipients and others that receive state medicare to prove they are american citizens, so at least he has done something. I sent him a letter stating that I will not vote for any presidential candidate that is for amnesty/guest workers or open borders. I will also not vote for any candidate that does not enforce our immigration laws.

Mamie, I cringe everytime that political ad for Gov. Riley runs on TV insinuating that Alabama is cracking down on illegal aliens. HA! I know what I saw in Huntsville today.....about 200 strong rally, almost all speaking spanish as they walked past us. If the cops had asked for IDs or green cards that crowd would have dispersed FAST! But NOOOOO, our authorities can't touch them. I think I'll write a letter to Riley this evening for my own peace of mind....describe the wonderful day without illegals here.

Hey come on people I will gladly trade our loving Ted for any of yours. Does yours let Illegal's walk into DMV and get Drivers licenses so they can drive and vote? Our does. Do you ever get a response if you send a letter to your governor? I have sent at least 10 and have yet to receive a response. He is the biggest POS I have ever seen holding office. Might as well put a stump in his place we would be better off. A stump can’t talk.

no alien, whether legal or illegal, should be eligible for a drivers license in any state ... legal alien residents should ONLY receive a drivers permit, that way there would be no 'CONFUSION' about who the citizens of the states are

Mamie, You are preaching to the choir, Tell this idiot that Portland elected. I have included the link. But don’t expect a reply as either he can’t read, write or use a computer. He is the leader of the great state of Oregon, if you can find him. I call him a joke. I just have not figured the other village that lost their Idiot or I would return him. I doubt it’s the same one that lost Bush.
