    President Felipe Calderón attended a dinner this evening hosted by the Council of the Americas, the main organization of US businessmen, investors and US opinion leaders devoted to promoting the development and integration of the hemisphere.

    During the meeting, the president discussed the outlook for the Mexican economy with the leaders and members of the Council, highlighting the investments that are to be carried out to enhance Mexico's economic and human development. He also exchanged points of view on various issues on the hemispheric agenda.

    The president of Mexico added that his government aims to turn Mexico into one of the best investment destinations in the world, which is why he is working to ensure full respect for the rule of law in every order of national life.

    During the first event of his tour of the United States, the President stated that Mexico is a country with a clear route and vision of the future which, over the next few years, will enable it to become a clean, safe, orderly and competitive nation.

    Tomorrow President Calderón will continue his working tour of various US cities, meeting with Governor of New York Eliot Spitzer, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon, the Mexican community in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut as well as business leaders at the Federal Reserve headquarters in New York and editors of The Wall Street Journal.
    During the meeting, the Presidente was accompanied by Patricia Espinosa Cantellano, Secretary of Foreign Affaris; AgustÃ*n Carstens Carstens, Secretary of Finance and Public Credit; Eduardo Sojo Garza-Aldape, Secretary of the Economy; César Nava Vázquez, Private Secretary to the President; Bruno Ferrari, Director General of Promexico and Arturo Sarukhan, Mexican Ambassador to the United States.

    The meeting was directed by David Rockefeller, honorary president of the Council of the Americas, and other council members included in the following list:
