I have been moving this week and just regained access to the internet. If this information has already been posted, I apologize:

You have received this email because of your interest in fighting illegal immigration.

On Friday, August 25 2006, at 10:00am, there will be a Congressional field hearing on illegal immigration in U.S. Rep. Sue Myrick's Gastonia Congressional office (197 West Main Ave, downtown Gastonia, NC). The title of the hearing is "Empowering Local Law Enforcement to Combat Illegal Immigration"

As you know, field hearings like this have been happening all around the country. However, this will be the only Congressional hearing that will take place in North Carolina. You are personally invited to attend, but space is limited. If you wish to attend, you must RSVP with Rep. Myrick's office at 704-861-1976.

At this hearing, you will hear testimony from witnesses regarding the 287 (G) program, which federally deputizes local law enforcement officers to assist with immigration law enforcement. You will also hear testimony about the Scott Gardner Act, which would deport illegal aliens convicted of a DWI.

Rep. Mark Souder (IN-3), Chairman of the House Government Reform Subcommittee on Criminal Justice, will moderate the field hearing. He will be joined by Rep. Myrick and other Members of Congress from North Carolina on a panel that will be asking questions of the witnesses.

Again, if you wish to attend this historic event, please call 704-861-1976 and reserve your seat today.

If you are not already signed up for Rep. Myrick's immigration updates, and want to be added to her newsletter list, please email Myrick.Immigrationnewsletter@mail.house.gov and request to be added.
