Thread: THANKS FOR YOUR HELP

Thanks to Dixie, Phrede, W, and all those who gave me links and help with information for our first meeting of concerned individuals in our town about illegal immigration.

One guy is knowledgeable about it, but when I started giving them just a few tidbits of info that I gave from Alipac their eyes widened and after a while it was so much information you could almost see their eyes glazing over.

I broke my presentation down to:

1 Deaths, Injuries, etc by illegal aliens who had been stopped multiple times prior.

2. Employement Problems

3. ID Theft

Victories that were helped by Alipac activists. I had a huge list that I couldn't even get through

I gave the Alipac.us site and Numbersusa.com and told the differences about the sites.

We talked about the 287(g) program. The people present didn't know about. The contacts I've made with ICE and the information waiting to be obtained. I found that ICE has a CAP agreement with Sonoma County Sheriffs, which means ICE officers are assigned to that jail to interview inmates to ascertain what their resident status is. That is a big plus.

I found that we do have a small holding cell and that most arrestees are transfered to Sonoma County jail within about 4-5 hours.

We talked about the teachers who are angry with students putting marker pens on the American flag. The teachers may be an avenue of influence.

We talked about ordinances that we would like to get changed in the city about garage conversions.

I got good insight from an official that attended about who to talk to in a private meeting about 287(g).

From an inside city source, it is their opinion that the an official would be open to the 287(g) but through a private meeting. Not sure but privately is the best way to proceed. They do not trust the city council and feels if we can get people signing a petition in the city with good numbers and the official goes along with it, it is a possibility we might get something through.

Also gave them information on HR 4088 and what is happening with it.

My activist friend and I have been invited to speak at a weekly meeting by one of the people present who goes to this meeting and wants us to present our facts.

Much more but I don't want to bore you. Anyway it may be a long road to hoe but we'll see.

I am so excited for you Gogo. It sounds like a great start with good contacts and ideas to follow through for even more progress. Just having the Fire Captain open to supporting the 287 (g) and suggesting a meeting with the Police Chief is all positive. The more citizens the better.

Hope this continues and that more doors open for education and citizenry involvement.

Me too! I didn't know that there many teachers getting fed up with it in school. One teacher had to take her American flag out of the class because the kids keep vandalizing it. YET, you don't see that in the paper. Would like to see some educators get active in this.

Me too on the educators being involved. I thought that was an excellent point about educating illegal aliens only for them to not be able to work, legally of course. Talk about dumb all the way around.

Illegal aliens need to return home and we need to address the crippling effects of educating the children of illegal aliens. Free to them and at too high a cost to the American citizens.

Everyone took down the Alipac.us site and the NumbersUSA.com site. That was of big interest to them.

I'm still waiting for a call back from ICE in DC. I left a message Friday afternoon but it was past office hours back there. So we'll see what happens on Monday.

OH YA, ONE THING THAT OFFICE MEYER IN SF ICE OFFICE SAID WAS EVEN THOUGH SF CONSIDERS ITSELF A "SANCTUARY CITY" HE SAID, "THAT WILL NOT STOP US FROM DOING OUR JOB."

He was adamant about that.

When I told him about the students tearing the American flag out of their social studies books, he "WHOA!" Like that was a real telling red flag that we we have problems up here.

I missed your earlier post of your plans so was unaware of your meeting.
Your presentation sounds wonderful and am happy the meeting went so well.

I am impressed by your activism and I'd bet most here are as well.

Of course, I wish I could give you more help. But, it sounds like you've got the ball pretty well already and I'm hoping your warm reception will bring many local helpers to your side as well.
