the hurricane came, and the levee broke
the city swamped, countrys' wheel spoke
the country, the wheel, unbalanced became
and it became clear, we were not the same
the assumption that things were rolling along
continued apace until our leaders were wrong
in the city, there struggled, the surviving throng
as they waited for help, and waited so long
it then became clear as some water receded
the warnings, so dire, had never been heeded
it then became clear, as mud in the Bayou
that the leaders were worthless, could not decent do
it resulted that they, cast each other blame
as our Country unsteady, hobbled and lame
the city turned from flood, to incindiary flame
the flames of the fire, both edifice and people
seemed then to spread, upon Parish and steeple
and in the background, the din of the nothing
as leaders turned postures, and postures, to bluffing

through all of this good people saw true
came to the aid, nothing else then to do
it is then, that it dawned, there is just me and you
to alter this path, that the nothings have steered
the time is long over, reality, is future we feared
as time marches on and the task viewed titanic
choices we make bind us, with chemistry galvanic
so gird yourselves up "average" Americans
let's not leave New Orleans people, to the gators and pelicans
for we are the remnant, of our forefathers sentiment
and we are the Presidents, of what is becoming a tenement.

We need a total "house" cleaning.

If it doesn't happen, I, for one, defer to STATES controlling their own destinies. cheers glenn
