Licencias y ID sólo con social
    Juan Manuel Ibarguren

    Fotos a no identificables

I translated this article from the newspaper Que Pasa, to the best of my knowledge of the Spanish language , which i am very fluent in it.

Licenses and Id’s only with a Social Security card:
Raleigh, The have been talking about it, and the day is finally here, you cannot longer obtain a driver’s license from the State with a ITN number. What happened is in a closed marathon session of the NC State assembly the proposal for technical corrections SB602-2005 was totally approved by all the representatives as well as the Senators.

Now all is missing is the signature of the State’s Governor, Mike Easley so it can finally be made into a law, and it can begin to be enforced. Even tough they are already speculating with the possibility that as of this week the ITN will no longer be good to obtain Dmv documents, except to be used for the purpose they were meant to, according to Matty Lazo, Secretary of the State’s office.
    .
    The Affected:
It’s clear whom will be mainly affected. The Latinos, the Hispanic community is whom uses the ITN the most, for this purposes, since the difficulties are every time greater to obtain a social security number.
The Only exceptions are for those individuals that do not possess a social security number, but have a valid Visa in their passports, issued by the US. Gov., according to the --Republican representative Daniel Mc Comas, there was no way to stop this law, since the Governor Mike Easley has asked Us to approved not matter what, and he believes this slaw will take effect the first or second week of August at the DMV offices, let see what consequences this law brings added the Hispanic represent ant

    The Rush is on!!
At list until the new laws take effect. You can still get a licenses with the ITN, but you must hurry! Because this benefit will run out soon, after the Governor signs it into law.
At the same time the person that need to renew their licenses in a short period of time no greater than six months they have the possibility to do so with the ITN.

    Pictures for the Non Identifiable
The legislators of North Carolina also tentative approved a measure that would allow the police to take pictures of the drivers that do not carry an Id, and this was perceived by Hispanic activists like an anti immigrant action.
The Republican representative Dale Folwell, of Forsyth county, proposed the project as a way to fight identity theft, concerned that many drivers whom do not have a license very often give false information/names to police officers.
The pictures would be attached to their criminal records, which could included the fact that they have been driving with out a license, this way if the driver gave a false name , the real person could prove before the court that it was not him or her who was driving a vehicle at that time when the violation occurred.

The proposed law is critical, because it will protect the victims and it will contribute to a change in the behavior of the drivers, whom will be obligated to tell the truth, , added Folwell, , also will reduce the costs of public security and of the court system.
The measure was approved by the representatives by a vote of 89-22, the representative Mickey Michaux argument that the propose law is “racial profiling”, Insisted Michaux, democrat from Durham.

Michaux objected the final approval, which forced the Chamber of representatives to review the measure, the Legislative assembly of North Carolina closed it’s period of activities in the early Friday morning , the Legislators from both chambers will not gather again until the Fall

    Redwhiteandbluelatino,

You did such a GREAT JOB! I am SO glad you beat me to it because your interpretation is SO much better than mine...which I will post just for shi+'s and giggles. Mind you, for practical purposes, I am much better at speaking spanish than I am at reading, or interprting it.
    ------------------------------------------------------

RALEIGH - One had speaking and finally the day came: it will not be possible to obtain a drivers with an ITIN number. It happened in the closing moments of the North Carolina Assembly that the ammendment correction, SB602-2005 was unanimously approved by both the representatives and the state senators.

Now the only thing absent is the signature of the governor Mike Easley so that it will become law and the measures are put into practice, although one could already speculate that the possibility exists that ITIN will no longer be used for this purpose after this week. That possibility had already been discussed. What they want is that the ITIN serves only for tax purposes, said Matty Lazo, secretary of the office ProTempore of the Senate.

    The harmed ones

It is clear those who will be most harmed: the Latin ones. The Hispanic community, which most often uses the ITIN for these purpose (to obtain drivers licenses) are hobbled because it is so difficult to obtain a Social Security number (a legit one that is).The only exception to be made for people without Social Secuity numbers is that they must provide a valid visa or passport issued by their country of origin.
According to the republican representative Daniel McComas, there was no possible way of breaking the law, since the governor Mike Easley had asked us to go out yes or yes (this sentence makes no sense to me either). I believe that this new measure will take effect in the first or second week of August at the offices of the DMV. We are going to see what consequences this brings, pointed out the Hispanic representative.

    It is necessary to worry

At least until the change takes affect, it will still be possible to obtain a license using the ITIN, but it is necessary to worry, because time may be brief between when the governor signs measures go into effect. Also, for those whose whose licenses will expire within six months, there is the possiblity to renewing it using the ITIN during this time.

    Photos to not identifiable

The legislators of North Carolina also approved a tenative measure that would allow the police to photograph drivers who are unable to produce identification, which was seen by many hispanic activists as an anti-immigrant action. .
Representative Dale Folwell, republican of Forsyth County, said he proposed this measure as a means to fight identity theft, because he worried that some drivers with out licenses give false information and false names to the officials.
This photo would be filed in police records, along with the violation of the driver, including the violation of driving without a license. This way, if the driver had given a false name, the real person could prove before the court that they we not present when the infraction happened.
This proposed law is critical, because it will protect the victims and lead to changes in the conduct of the drivers, who will now be forced to tell the truth, pointed out Folwell. It would also reduce the costs of public safety and of judicial system.

Although the measureme was approved by the representatives in voting 89-22, the representative Mickey Michaux argued that the project of law might lead to discrimination. This appears to me to be racial characteration, insisted Michaux, democrat for Durham. Michaux objected to the final approval, which forced to the Chamber to check the measurement.

The Legislative Assembly of North Carolina will adjorn on Friday. The legislators of both parties will not return until fall.

    phew

    How maddening. Utterly exasperating.

    Non identifiables

Is there a list in the archives of all the names we see for illegal aliens?! It would provide a rye chuckle. We could just keep adding to it -as I see a new label every week.

Everything does seem to be aimed at Latinos, because they have come here by the masses, they shouldn't take offense at anything, it's they that have flooded us, we don't have masses of any other race coming in. Other races seem to dribble in...not smash down the gates!
