Group that gives gifts to kids is 'desperate' for donations
Accion Hispana, a local Hispanic advocacy group, will celebrate Dia de los Reyes (Three Kings Day) at 4 p.m. Jan. 7 at the organization's fellowship hall, first floor at 3 E. Devonshire St.

But in order for Los Reyes to give away presents, it needs to bring in donations. Currently, staff members say, nearly 200 children are on a waiting list, and the group has only about 20 gifts.

"We are desperate... We are looking for any kind of donation, toys or money," spokeswoman Lorena Munoz-Holladay said.

A new and unwrapped toy for children ages 1 to 12 can be dropped off at 3 E. Devonshire St. from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

El Dia de los Reyes is traditionally celebrated by Hispanics on Jan. 6. For more information, call 723-6609

Sounds like they are having a hard time scaring up some of Bush's WELCOME WORKERS to contribute, huh??
