    How Long Do We Have?

Whether one is a Democrat, a Republican, or an Independent, it is very important for all U.S. Citizens to be aware of the fact that complacency and apathy are dangerous to our well-being. Complacency and apathy in the U.S. led to the emboldened activities of Islamic extremists and ultimately to the tragic events of 9/11. Complacency and apathy in regard to the problems of Illegal Immigration; especially as to how those problems relate to our national security, only serve to let down our guard against those who would possibly do us harm.

The following email was sent to me today. It is entitled “How Long Do We Have?â€

"In aggregate, the map of the territory Bush won was mostly the land owned by the taxpaying citizens of this great country. Gore's territory mostly encompassed those citizens living in government-owned tenements and living off various forms of government welfare..."

You can also look at it this way.........Bush won the states with a strong military presence----and of course those people/states will support him during a time of war. Also, Gore's territory were states where the economy was terrible------PA, etc.-----which is going to mean that more people would be using some type of social benefits.

However, in regard to how long do we have.........As a country and as part of the world-----I don't think very long.

Doesn't the highly accurate Mayan Calendar end in 2012----which has many people speculating that the end of the world will occur at that time??

Based on the Mayan Calendar, some weird alignment in the solar system is also supposed to take place in 2012--------will that mean increased hurricanes, earthquakes, global warming, global freezing, etc.??? Is that why the weather is beginning to get weird/unpredictable now----as the 2012 date gets closer???

With the threats that we now face-----invasion by Mexico and threats to destroy us by the terrorists--------it also does not look good.

No matter how good our FBI, CIA, Dept of Homeland Security is------the odds are that eventually the terrorists are going to have a successful attack on US soil again------as well as Europe.

If these same terrorists have no fear of dying----or ending the world-----so that ????? comes back (I can't remember who they think will return at the end of the world, but it is not Mohammed)------they are eventually going to get us. Be it through a nuke, chemical or biological weapons, and/or destroying our economy------our days are numbered.

In regard to comments above concerning the Mayan Calendar: I personally have several doubts about its interpretation over the years and about the efficacy of the many interpreters' predictions. The same holds true for the interpretations of the Biblical Armageddon. Some people believe that Armaggedon is in the future; others believe that it happened long ago.

If we align ourselves to so-called "Doomsday" predictions, then we develop the tendency to become complacent and apathetic. People think: "Why should we do anything if the world is ending, anyway?" Not only is this one of the leading causes of complacency and apathy; but such thinking even motivates terrorists and religious extremists. Such thinking should be avoided at all costs. We all must learn to take care of what is happening today and take action for the protection of our freedoms and our rights, whenever the need arises.

America won't have long unless we wake up and act together.

I don't want to sound nasty - but wonder what the statistics about Gore vs. Bush have to do with anything really.

We have to admit, surely, that Pres. Bush has been very instrumental in this downward spiral of America. He has certainly greased the skids many times.

I have seen these before and I thought I understood what they were trying to say before - but in the context of illegal immigration, outsourcing, etc., I don't know.

You said it best, nntrixie: We all have to wake up and work together! Both political parties need to stop sniping at each other and learn to work together; especially when it comes to the protection of our borders. Both parties have made mistakes and both parties need to recognize the fact that we are living in times that are very precarious. Our national security should be our top priority.

This article relates to the Illegal Immigration problems because of the fact that illegal immigrants create a drain on our economy in many ways. By draining the U.S. economy, we do become weaker. When our jobs are outsourced, those jobs are taken away from the U.S. Citizen. Many illegals and even legal immigrants attach the Social Services system that was meant to be of temporary assistance to those U.S. Citizens who have paid into it. Our Social Security retirement benefits that Mexico now wants to attach are meant for those U.S. Citizens who have paid into it as a retirement package; not for those who falsify identities and Social Security numbers.

What the article refers to is the fact that too many people: Illegal Aliens and many U.S. Citizens for that matter, are wanting the U.S. Government to take care of them and they rely on the hard-working U.S. Taxpayers for their income and support without making efforts on their own to become responsible tax-paying citizens themselves. When jobs are outsourced, we are taking away employment opportunities for U.S. Citizens. Open borders for Illegal Aliens poses the danger of allowing Middle Eastern terrorists into our country without adequate security checks. Illegal Aliens have been marching with Socialist and Marxist factions which openly carried signs declaring that those groups support the "rights" of all non-citizens in the United States. Just let one of those factions get into power and we'll quickly see how fast our rights and freedoms are taken away.

These are only a few examples of why we must not be complacent or apathetic in regard to the problem of Illegal Immigration.

I agree with the sentiment, but we aren't a democracy. The first step to reclaiming our country is to make the very important distinction between a republic and a democracy.

America is a republic. The word 'democracy' appears nowhere in the Bill of Rights, the U.S. Constitution, or the Declaration of Independence. There was a Birch Society film awhile back that argued when republics descend into democracies, the end isn't far behind.

Mark Oh goodness, I've got to learn to express myself better.

I meant what did those statistics about Gore/Bush have to do with illegal immigration, or even outsourcing, etc. I didn't get the connection, that's all.

Oh, I do believe, very much, that illegal immigration is a tool - a weapon - that is being used to destroy America.

    Sorry --

Now one thing, just my opinion, but I don't think the parties need to come together, I think the people need to shuck the parties , throw them in the dustbin where they belong, and come together and form another real party.

As far as the parties, as in the national party leaders, etc., I think they are together and have been for probably 50 years. They are just playacting at being different. Push comes to shove, the big things that are destroying America - they are all on the same page. It is the wrong page and it is a different page from what the American people are on.

nntrixie: The use of statistics; surreptitious as they were, was wrapped up by the following statement:

Professor Olson adds: "In aggregate, the map of the territory Bush won was mostly the land owned by the taxpaying citizens of this great country. Gore's territory mostly encompassed those citizens living in government-owned tenements and living off various forms of government welfare..."

Attachment of the welfare systems are primary goals of Illegal Aliens, especially those who take part in the anchor baby activities. Outsourcing of jobs contributes to a growing population on welfare by taking away production and creativity; not to mention gainful employment, from the U.S. Citizens.

In regard to the Democratic and Republican parties: both parties have more moderates within their ranks than members of the Democratic Left Wingers or the Republican Right Wingers. It is my belief that if more moderates in both parties would speak up, then both parties would be able to work together more efficiently and perhaps all the childish political fighting and mud-slinging would stop.

    I'm sorry - I'm dense - I still don't get it.

Now I agree with apropos We need to get back our republic.

I am not so old that I go back to when it was a republic - but I do remember when states were in control of much more of our lives. I have seen that taken away, under the guise of many things.
