The local forms in Central Point Oregon. .

I don't know if anyone has any spare time and wants to try and win some people to our side but here is link to my local papers forms. It is a pretty open border group. There is an immigration sub form to post in. Just if you should get bored and want something to do. Please don't let this take away from the activities here at Alipac. I doubt if you will swing many. Good luck should you choose to debate this group.

Trouble is, Oregon is just about as "Red" as California, accept for a few who have common sense.

    American_made, Hylander - hey, ....what's up??

American_made probably knows the nuances of our political landscape pretty well - I hope Hylander does too.

Basically, it is more 'red' than most people give us credit for. The way the politics filter out, is by rural vs. urban. Like Colorado, we're a fairly big state, but most of the pop. lives in a handful of the largest cities. I think about 60%+ live in the top 4 or 5 cities. These of course tend to attract and produce the 'bluer' folks (of which, I used to be one - until I woke up one day and registered as an Independent and voted that way ever since!)...anyhow...

In general, the rural areas can be quite conservative - it's just that their voice and power is squashed by the dominance of the larger urban population. I have a brother that lives in a small town in the state and relays to me that all the locals refer to us in the largest metro area as 'The Great State of Portland' - there is more than just a little grudge between 'us' and 'them'.

Also, Hylander might be pleasantly surprised to learn that Lars Larson - a fairly conservative radio talk show host produces a local and national radio spot - is based right here in town.

Hylander - don't write us off just yet... it's probably not as hopeless as it appears.

American_made - Sorry, I'd like to help but have been to busy with everything else lately...

Sorry, about that. I should have clarified that you folks who are the few have a hell of an uphill battle there. My ex is from Oregon, and my ex inlaws are still there, and all of them are posterchildren for the extreme left, which usually left me outnumbered, and frustrated, as usually what happens when trying to debate a topic.

What I couldn't understand was the ex didn't even let on until I said I do, but during the divorce, I learned what was mine was hers, and what was hers was hers. Including the kids.

Again, apologies for being out of line.

    Hey American_made,

I have a little time to spare in the evenings. I’d be more than happy to debate this group.

Here’s a link to our local news paper forum. I’ll warn you some of the threads and comments get a little rough.

The paper just put up a spot for immigration issues. Rants and rave, letters to the editor and Immigrations are the ones I watch. Any one who wants to post comments feel free.

Hylander, hey, don't sweat it. You're not outta line at all.
Everything is cool by me. My big response is just another of my [way-too-long] FYI types things which I tend to do too often.

Actually, on the immigration issue I'll tell you honestly that people I thought would line up lock-step behind the Blue party, have really not done so - and are really asking themselves and the government some really tough questions about all this - so, somewhere, somehow, somebody is *thinking* and that will help in the end.

Been there, done that. I hope yours was easier than mine.
Ah, ok - I'm going off-topic, but here's a quick joke for you:

    Q. Why are divorces so expensive?
    A. Because they're worth it!

Hang in there, hope things are getting along nicely for you.
    I'm glad you're here.

Exactly. Same way in California. Californians ovewhelmingly voted for 2 propositions that opposed the invasion, and a prop that opposed affirmative action. We may be a blue state, but we are right on about immigration. Dem AMERICANS differ from Dem politicians on some issues. Immigration is an issue that crosses party lines, which is why we actually have reason to be optimistic that we can get a Tancredo or a Hunter in the White House.
Serve Bush with his letter of resignation.

    See you at the signing!!

BFR: Yeah, I think there's a lot similarities for sure.

I think the difference between the average DEM voter/citizen and the elected DEM politicians is larger than most people recognize too. If I were to take a poll on the closest 10 people I know that are DEMs, I'd have to say that about 6-7 are reasonably close to my/our perspective on illegal immigration - and even closer on the issues that are perceived to be closest to home for them - things like imported/H1B workers, etc. The other 3-4 are probably never going to awaken from their march to PC nirvana....
there's nothing like facts to get in the way of a good debate, right?

    Good luck down there.

Thanks Phred! I like the riddle! That was a good one! Didn't want it to happen though. Got it dumped in my lap. o.k. enough o.t.

    BearFlag,

It doesn't matter which side you're on, as long as America, and Her Soverenty are at the core. Personally, I'm sick of the Republicons, and Democraps. I want to vote for "Americans". Like Tom T., Duncan H., and Ron P.

They aren't really the party partisan types. To bad there aren't more like them though, but the next election may show a different turn than might be expected, as more and more folks are pissed off with the leadership, and are flocking to the grass root movements, since most have grown to be more than just the cells they used to be.

Hylander - yeah, I'm sorry to hear about that - just trying to give you a positive chuckle in retrospect, that's it. (Divorced people have all the best 'ex' jokes....this I have learned)

... more and more folks are pissed off with the leadership, and are flocking to the grass root movements, since most have grown to be more than just the cells they used to be.
Yep, agreed. I think it is as simple as that - the people are really mad, and the elected fools need to get serious about doing something - the right thing for once - instead of continuing to screw around.

If you've hung out here for a while, you've probably heard me say this already - but I used to be a registered DEM, but chucked that several years ago (I wised up), and now registered Independent (and, no, I don't have a grudge against Republicans either) - the only people that get my vote have the correct position on the issues that matter to me and I don't care what party they think they belong to. (Plus, it's really hard for pollsters to estimate how people like me are likely to vote come election time - he, he, he)!

I like Tancredo of course, but I'll say honestly that the more I see of Duncan Hunter the more I like him too.
