NV official English bill hearing THIS FRIDAY!

The Nevada state Senate will hold a hearing on Sen. Bob Beers's bill to make English the state's official language THIS FRIDAY, April 6 at 11:00am in room 2149 at the capitol building.

ProEnglish strongly supports Sen. Beers's bill, SB 325, and is urging our Nevada supporters to call committee members in support of SB 325 and to attend the hearing on Friday.

SB 325 would:

require Nevada government agencies to communicate officially in English, including all official proceedings, records, and publications (exceptions include: teaching foreign languages, promoting tourism in the state, protecting public health and safety, and state judicial proceedings)
add "inability of a person to converse in a langauge other than English" to the list of prohibited bases of employment discrimination
require state agencies to record expenditures made to provide services in languages other than English.
The hearing will be held before the Senate Government Affairs Committee. You are receiving this email because your state Senator is a member of this committee.

Please take a moment today to contact your state senator and urge him or her to SUPPORT SB 325 TO MAKE ENGLISH THE OFFICIAL LANGUAGE OF NEVADA at Friday's committee hearing.
