Geraldo Rivera posted this half-nude selfie to Twitter, drawing hefty derision.

Geraldo Rivera may be watched by millions on television, but when he gets home at night, there’s no one to talk to.
After coming under fire for posting a half-nude selfie picture on Twitter, the famed TV personality tried to explain why he did it.
“I did a great show on black-on-black crime and race relations and the Trayvon Martin fallout and federal charges … and I get home and there’s no one to talk to, everyone’s asleep,” Rivera explained on 95.5 FM’s Scott & Todd morning show about his “Geraldo at Large” TV show, which he films Saturday nights.

Still “wired” from work, Rivera admitted to having “a couple of drinks.”
“This weekend, it was tequila. I never do tequila when I’m alone, but I had this new bottle that someone had given me for my birthday,” the 70-year-old star admitted. “By the second one, my fate was sealed.”
The time in solitude had Rivera reflecting on the photo he had taken in the bathroom earlier that day.

“It was 2:30 a.m., and I said, ‘Damn it, I like that picture,’” he confessed. “I learned how to use Twitter a couple weeks ago, and there it was.”
The backlash he received was unexpected.

Rivera said his 18-year-old wrote him in all caps about the ill-advised photo posting. “TAKE THAT TWITTER DOWN RIGHT NOW.”

“Then I woke up, and it was my 18-year-old who was the first I had heard about it. And she had written me in call caps, ‘TAKE THAT TWITTER DOWN RIGHT NOW,’” he added. “It seemed like a great idea at the time.”

Rivera never thought the bathroom snapshot that he posted with the caption “70 is the new 50” would cause such a stir.
“I figured they’d cut me some slack because I’m so old,” he said as he laughed.
When one of the staffers from the radio show asked, “Why do you have a shirt on now?” Rivera’s answer indicated he may not be as ashamed of the photo as some may think.

“The AC is cranked up in here. I don’t want my nipples to get hard,” he answered.

Regardless, the TV host did take the pic down the next day after hearing from the Fox Network.

“I took it down the next day after I heard from Fox,” he explained. “I just heard from Fox to take it down, [but] I haven’t heard the next sentence yet.”

While there’s no news of Fox reprimanding Rivera at this time, television personality Eric Bolling called into his syndicated radio program “Geraldo” Monday with some choice words.

“You’re one of the smartest people I know,” Bolling told Rivera on air. “What you did is one of the dumbest things a smart guy could possibly do.”

Thanks to the revelations this week of more sexts, Anthony Weiner's lead has evaporated in the mayoral race. As WSJ reports, among registered Democrats, 25% support City Council Speaker Christine Quinn and 16% support Mr. Weiner, a 14 percentage point swing in Ms. Quinn's favor compared with a poll taken several weeks ago. Mr. Weiner's unfavorability rating surged to 55% in the poll with only 30% still viewing him favorably (from 52% last month).




But perhaps more for the ongoing humor of it than his policies and prowess, a stunning 69% of 18-29 year-olds believe he should continue to run for Mayor (and 61% of Bronx residents).




Mr. Weiner "needs to get voters to give him a third chance," said one analyst, adding that "his negatives are at an all-time high. There's been a significant erosion in people's willingness to say he deserves another chance. They are more reluctant to grant that."
