I've Drank My Last Bottle of Coca-Cola, Now "Hecho En Mexico"....

I walked into my local Best Buy (in Coral Springs, FL) today to use up my gift card received for Christmas....low and behold, what did I see? A large wooden stand of our all-American brand of Coca-Cola, packed in the nostalgic old-style glass bottles with the tops you need a bottle cap opener to get off...and the sign at the top of the stand said in bold black letters, as follows, "HECHO en Mexico". I picked up one of the bottles to look at the printing and it was over half in Spanish-as if Coca-Cola was a totally foreign brand and imported from Latin America historically to begin with. I went to the freezer case and picked up a regular plastic bottle of Coke that was all in English- I was so mad that maybe I missed it, but it didn't say the country of origin, only a number for questions-but I was looking to see if that bottle was made in Mexico also.

Coke is not only selling out our people by exporting jobs to a foreign country, but they are rubbing bilingualism in our faces.

With Pepsico not doing much better, switching to an off-brand of cola, making my own or doing without is looking pretty good.....

I plan to complain to the management.

This is not about Coca-Cola exporting jobs but about consumer preferences for different products. Coca-Cola has a policy of putting bottling plants near their marketing areas. Some retailers have taken to importing Mexican bottled Coca-Cola from Mexico because some consumers prefer it. Some decades ago Coca-Cola and nearly all soft drink manufacturers in the USA began using corn syrup as a sweetener instead of cane sugar because corn syrup is cheaper in the USA. Many consumers are just catching on the this and looking for soft drinks which still use can sugar because they believe it tastes better. Mexican Coca-Cola uses cane sugar instead of corn syrup because cane sugar is the cheaper sweetener in Mexico.

That is infuriating! All other cultures learn and speak english here, we don't need to cater to those with no respect for the language of our country.

I dont know if they have it in your area Sacred, but R.C. Cola is better than Coke and Pepsi. I havent found any off brand colas that dont taste like crap. I will contact Coke to let them know they suck too.

What does this have to do with this article? Are we all of a sudden Capitalism hating Communists? Coca Cola only makes the stuff and the retailers buy it. If you want to complain to someone, complain to the consumer that chooses to buy the product or better yet the corn lobby. My buddies and I actually prefer the stuff South of the border due to the fact that the soda actually has sugar cane instead of the sticky corn syrup we use in our soda drinks. Corn is heavily subsidized in this country which is why most of our drinks contain it. Look at the ingredients for most drinks and you'll see the dreaded "corn syrup".

Your attitude is no different than the employer who hires illegals to displace Americans.
I challenge you to deny it. You are not hiring the illegal, but you are buyng the product from another country where Coca Cola moved American jobs to. Why don't you send a dollar for each six pack you buy from Mexico to your state unemployment fund to help those who were laid off? You know, those silly people known as our fellow Americans.

For heaven's sake man, look at the consequences of what uis happening and not your palate if you want to help restore America.

That is why i drink pepsi throwback. It has sugar. Also, the high fructose corn suryp others use can't be assimilated by the body. I read a medical article saying if people were really upset about childhood obesity, they should take that stuff out of all foods. Having said that, we do need to talk to our government and encourage them to quit all subsidies. Then maybe we can go back to having healthier foods. I did take a bottle of Sebastian hair poduct back becasue it was made in Mexico. I try to buy American. I also am offended by Spanish ads in my stores and on billboards. I also hate it if I am in home depot and hear the announcements in Spanish. It only encourages and help these people not to assimilate.

And I challenge you to find a piece of electronics in your home that was not made in China. I own a laptop most likely assembled in China. Even all American Apple assembles its iPhones and iPads in China. My point is that you nor anyone here can say they're not sending dollars out of the country. And it's not not because we want to, but because that's the best choice we have if we want to get the the best product (or healthier soda) for the lowest price. That is Capitalism.

Artclam, #1, there are other soft drinks-Sierra Mist is one of them-who use sugar instead of corn syrup-and Pepsi, Mountain Dew and Coke all used to use sugar instead of corn syrup as well (back decades ago). It's nothing new-sugar is grown here in the U.S., why not use an American sugar ranch for the source instead of going further away to build plants (more transportation costs and pollution)? And Sierra Mist doesn't-and Pepsi and Coke brands didn't used to-have their labeling in Spanish in this nation.

#2 The whole point boils down to....the American majority who prefers to speak English within their own nation, is seeing our language and culture being displaced by another's, as well as being invaded by a group of immigrants (both legal and illegal) who have a plan to build a nation of their own smack dab on top of ours....our human right to have a nation of our own....is being violated! I do not ask that the world learn English, only that IMMIGRANTS do.
