Gutiérrez Dreams the Impossible DREAM Act

Gutiérrez Dreams the Impossible DREAM Act

    By Elizabeth Llorente

    Published November 29, 2010

U.S. Rep. Luis Gutierrez, D-Ill., addresses a crowd where he announced he would not run for mayor of Chicago so that he could focus on immigration reform.

On Monday, when Congress is expected to take up the DREAM Act, a highly controversial bill that allows undocumented students who came to the United States before age 16 to become legal residents after five years by completing higher education or joining the military service, it will be in large measure because of the efforts one man – Rep. Luis Gutiérrez (D) of Illinois.

Gutiérrez spent part of Thanksgiving recess traveling to different states, pleading the case of the tens of thousands of undocumented youth who forego college because they cannot afford the out-of-state tuition rates they are forced to pay because of their status.

    Illegals

Americans have rejected amnesty for illegals. Enforce current laws and illegals will leave. Do not provide social services to law breakers and they will leave. No Dream Act. No amnesty. Amnesties do not work. Did the 1986 amnesty work? No. To date we are waiting for enforcement. So, what makes you think, Gutierrez, that a new amnesty will work? You are dreaming Gutierrez. We have to enforce the laws. That is the only answer to stop illegal immigration.

This piece of work spends his entire time in Congress making lives more comfortable for those illegally here instead of working for suffering and struggling Americans. His use of Martin Luther King's name (who I idolize) to conflate the struggles of those who suffered, fought and still fight for their inalienable rights as citizens with those who violated our laws, borders, sovereignty and are rewarded with benefits and privileges not available to citizens and legal residents is beyond reprehensible and is a slap in the face to those who fought, sacrificed and died fighting for their place as rightful citizens of this country.
Struggling taxpayers should not be held financially responsible for anchor babies and those illegally brought into this country by their parents. Once rewarded with citizenship because their parents broke our laws encouraging even more illegal immigration across borders that will never be secure (Gutierrez and the rest of the defacto Mexican Hispanic Caucus all oppose secure borders) they will begin the never ending scourge of chain migration resulting in the collapse of our health care, education, welfare, other social programs and the bankruptcy of this country. Gutierrez needs to stop representing illegal alien border hoppers and fulfill his oath of representing American citizens. You remember that pesky little document Gutierrez; The Constitution for which you took an oath to uphold and defend and for which millions have fought, sacrificed and died protecting, defending and preserving. How about being an American by supporting Americans......What a novel idea.....
There is no freedom without the law. Remember our veterans whose sacrifices allow us to live in freedom.

Gutierrez's dream is for half of Latin America to move here and take everything we have, to make us their indentured servants.
