Guest Worker Amnesty Passes Senate: 66 - 33

On Thursday, May 18 2006 the United States Senate passed President Bush's request for the guest worker amnesty program. As a result, thousands are now lining Mexico's border to cross into the United States for a chance at free citizenship.

The bill simply states that those who can prove they've been within the United States for two years will be granted amnesty. It is ludicrous because now anyone can come across the border tonight, draft ficticious documentation as "proof" and become citizens of the United States of America.

FORGET THE SENATE! THIS IS A DONE DEAL IN THAT BRANCH OF GOVERNMENT!

The fight must now be concentrated heavily upon the shoulders of the United States Congress to KILL THIS BILL!!

The link also contains a full list of those who voted for and those who voted against.

It is my suggestion that everyone copy those names to their computer hard drive and begin compiling an informational letter to the public with that list included, describing the horrific danger the Senate placed the U.S. by passage of that legislation - and then ask them to vote those people out of office in November.

They must be voted out regardless whether Congress kills this bill or not. They cannot be permitted to stay.

Thank you for posting this. I am sending it to everyone I know.
It was said, on the News tonight that 75% of Americans approve of a path to Citizenship for Illegal Aliens.
    I don't believe it.

KickEmOut - we still have one piece of the system left to try yet - don't go do anything "out of it's time". We have yet to rely on Congress! Contact, contact, contact.

I thought things would be debated over another week or two yet. This comes as a major shock to me as well - but we have to use the system until all means have been exhausted. THEN we get lawyers involved and file class action lawsuits wherever we can. Best way to stop a piece of legislation cold is to turn it into LEGALLY CHALLENGED legislation.

And if that all fails as well, then start leaning Spanish. You are going to need it.

I might add, there is also one other thing that can be petitioned of a future Senate and Congress after we clean house. It's called a REPEAL. Make Tancredo president, load his Senate and House down with those who have shown they are against this and the bill could then be repealed.

Of course, traditionally, once something has become federal law it usually stands forever.

Contact..contact..contact....Lawsuits? By the time lawsuits are settled, there will be so many more illegals in this country it will be the same as if the legislation was signed into law anyway. And the elections in November will be rife with corruption. The illegals are being registered AS WE SPEAK. No, anyone who thinks we can continue to fight this through "the system" when the system is so horribly corrupted is flat mistaken. I don't yet know what I'm going to do, but I am going to do something. News at 11.

Just don't do something that gets you placed behind bars or a padded cell. You will do the movement no good if that is the case.

Of course, then again, I am now beginning to wonder if we even have a "movement" at all.

Talk without action is an opportunity wasted.

    WAIT A MINUTE GUYS

According to my list of Amendments that were passed today, I've not found the one that CONCERNEDVET is referring to.

    CONCERNEDVET
give me a number &/or Senator sponsor of the bill.

Before we JUMP overboard, let's see exactly what the fine print states.

The article doesn't give the number or sponsor. You do have an excellent point in making this determination however. I am going to be calling Senator Ben Nelson's office in the morning (though he is a Democrat, he broke ranks with his counterparts and voted NO on this according to the list at that url) and find out the specifics since our "journalist" in the article didn't adhere to the standard "who, what, where, when, why, how".

Whether the entire bill is what passed, or whether they simply voted on an amendment though, the point of this thread is obvious - the list of those who voted on "whatever" this is article refers to are the most dangerous individuals within the halls of our Senate today and those who voted (again, regardless) YES must be "deported" back into the private sector where they will have to find jobs in this economic cesspool, much as we find ourselves doing on a daily basis.

I hope to God that what you're saying, 2ndamendsis, is true - that it was only an amendment and not the "full meal deal"

If it was the whole enchilada they voted on, and the article is correct, we only have one avenue left and that is Congress.

I honestly think that regardless, fighting this at the Senate level is a waste of time anyway. Congress must be targetted with the efforts now. I err on the side with the most sanity.
