Older White Folks Flee Their California Homes, Latinos Buy Them Up

A USC study of home ownership in California found that older white folks were abandoning their homes and that Latinos were apparently buying them up (sort of like your old Buick Regals, too).

In fact Latinos in California were responsible for nearly 80 percent of the the state's "homeowner growth" in the '00s, according to a USC statement released today.



The oldsters are slipping, according to USC's look at census data, titled, "Attrition of Homeownership in California in the 2000s" (PDF).

USC:

... The state's oldest residents fled the housing market in greater numbers between 2000 and 2010 than during the previous two decades.

And there's more where that came from. The 75-and-older crowd continues to sell out for retirement and to get away, apparently. The trend will intensify as baby boomers get older, according to USC.

"We're depending on young Latino homebuyers to keep the market afloat, with some help from Asians, too," said report author Dowell Myers.

Gosh, this is like an old white racist's worst nightmare, isn't it? Browns and Asians? But it's nothing new. Look at the minority takeover of such previously white bastions as Lawndale and Gardena.

It's sort of like what happened to such previously white-girl names as Ashley and Caylee. (It's a trip hearing immigrant parents call out for their baby Ashley with Spanish accents).

Anyway, USC calls for more pedestrian, "elder friendly" developments to stem the tide of old, white flight.

I find this hatred of white baby boomers perpetuated by the media to be deplorable! They try to turn the table to make whites the racists, but it's really the other way around.

All those "old whites" are the ones who worked their asses off just so their tax dollars can go to support illegals plopping out anchors left and right, who will then come into formally white neighborhoods and buy up all the houses. Lets watch these areas fall victim to crime, trash, and run down houses....history repeats it's self time and time again.

I am saving my money so when the time comes that I can escape this state, I can leave too. We took our family vacation thru ID, WY, MT and SD and I have to say, I didn't hear or see one WORD of spanish anywhere. I didn't think places like this existed anymore! While I did go thru a lot of small towns that had some pretty run down lplaces lived in by poor whites, I saw no graffiti, and no trash on the side of the road....and best of all, the people in this part of the US are SO kind!

In 10 years or possibly less you can count me as one of those whites fleeing California. I am sick to death of seeing my California being overwhelmed by the illegal invasion. Our national anthem being booed at a US vs mexico soccer game at the Rose Bowl two weeks ago. Mexican flags in our Fourth of July parades, spanish language being heard just about everywhere I go, millions of people refusing to assimilate into our American culture. Millions refusing to learn of our history or the principals of our US Constitution. Vast numbers of people (invaders) who give their allegiance to Mexico first.

My mother is 75 years old, she was born in Los Angles. She is really sick as to what has happened to California. Her house is up for sale and she wants move out as well. Her plan is to buy a new house in St. George Utah. Hopefully I'll be right behind her fleeing this nightmare in several more years.

The obvious disdain of whites expressed in this article should be a wake-up call to all. This La Raza racist, when called on it, tries to pass it off as a “tongue in cheekâ€

After all of these years of the boomers (won't dignify this racist author with the color issue) working hard and paying for most of the 'stuff' this state gives others they will notice it when they are gone. This state is becoming a state of too many taxtakers vs taxmakers. And since we are also one of the highest taxed states that in itself is a lot of the reason people will leave as they retire and don't have as much income (unless you have a nice fat union pension). The author should keep his article and read it in another 20 yrs or so, when these boomer taxpayers are gone...see how he feels then.
