Thread: Opposition Blowing SB1070 Out Of Proportion?

According to FAIR this bill will not allow police to stop anyone and ask for immigration status just because they happen to look Mexican. It will however allow police to stop someone who, say, commits a traffic violation and if there is suspicion that the driver is illegally here (more than just skin color and name) THEN they'll ask for proof of citizenship. So in the end, only those who are here illegally and stupid enough to commit crimes, felonies, traffic violations will be in trouble.

But if it is found that police are targeting people based on skin-color then you can bet that civil rights groups or the federal government will step in to help stop that from happening.

Is there anything in this bill not present in Simpson Mazolli?

I'm sure the officers will act with prudence. I bet some of the officers are Hispanics. I have already seen comments that the police will just check anyone and deport them. I don't think so. Of course that would be nice to just deport them..........think about it. we have every right to do so according to laws.

Yep. There are many Hispanics in the police force in Arizona. Nonetheless, any slip up in the implementation of this law such as racial profiling and it's done for. The governor made it clear that there will be no racial profiling and that she is for the diversity that Arizona is known for.

Notice it is not an "immigration" bill like the moronic media keeps reporting, but an illegal alien law enforcement bill.

The difference is that if an illegal was found to be an illegal they could or did let them go. Now they have to do something. Write an appearance ticket or take them in until they can be legitimized and identified for wants and warrants. This is no different from anyone else. Why the illegals have been treated with amenity is way beyond my ability to understand. All this law does is make them like everyone else. Obey the law or pay the price.



NO ONE WILL BE PULLED OVER FOR BEING A MEXICAN.... "Illegal is not a race" It is not racist to treat them as the law breakers that they are when found out.



"ILLEGAL" is not a sovereign state or country!!! They do not have immunity from the law.
