Steel firm owner jailed
Illegal aliens had bogus SS numbers

The owner of Tarrasco Steel, a company that supplied workers on the Biloxi Bay Bridge, was arrested and charged with hiring illegal immigrants on projects in three states. Some had improper welding certification.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents arrested Jose S. Gonzalez, 32, at his office in Greenville Thursday, according to a news release. Tarrasco Steel was hired as a subcontractor for rebar installation services to major bridge projects in Mississippi, Louisiana and Tennessee. The federal government considers those bridges as critical infrastructure, and they were part of routine inspections of facilities that if damaged could pose a threat to national security and public safety.
"There is a serious public safety concern when illegal aliens, who are not authorized to work in the country legally, and who do not possess valid welding certifications, are employed in the construction of bridges in our communities," said Michael A. Holt, special agent in charge of the Customs Office of Investigations in New Orleans, in a news release.
On inspections of several construction sites March 29, representatives of several federal agencies confirmed the majority of Tarrasco Steel employees were using bogus Social Security numbers, and 77 immigrants were arrested. Twenty-six of them worked for Tarrasco Steel. Some of them worked on the Biloxi bridge, the Huey P. Long bridge in New Orleans, and a project on Interstate 40 in Memphis, among others, the news release said.
In April, nine Tarrasco employees caught in the March 29 operations were charged with fraudulent use of immigration documents and Social Security account numbers. Investigators served a search warrant at the Tarrasco office in Greenville and they got copies of payroll records. They allege Gonzalez falsified information on the I-9 Employee Eligibility forms. Investigators learned that several workers had inappropriate welding certifications.
Several South Mississippi law enforcement agencies participated in the investigation, including the Harrison County Sheriff's Department, the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation and the Biloxi Police Department.
Gonzalez was indicted on July 29 and $457,368 has been seized from Tarrasco accounts, the news release said.<div>''Life's tough......it's even tougher if you're stupid.''

And these welding jobs and such were "jobs Americans won't do."

These are union jobs that these contractors are getting because there bids come in way lower. We were talking about this at dinner tonight and how we just all need to buy from the made in USA logo but there is not much of that anymore and how we need to boycott anything and everything from China. Mattel just recalled a bunch of lead based toys.
If it does not come from the USA and there is an Illegal selling in it, working in it, standing next to it, making it, don't buy it. You don't need it that bad anyway. It will probably kill you besides.<div>''Life's tough......it's even tougher if you're stupid.''

What still puzzles me is the blind and robotic support union members give the illegal alien movement.

We can do it if we get together - get organized.
We saw that the lawmakers did pay attention to us. Think what the corporations would feel if we put that determination into just not buying products from one industry?Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

That's why I think we need a forum dedicated to organizing, implementing and sustaining boycotts. If we could ALL target a certain company for boycotting (rather than a list a mile long) we could make sure that company FEELS THE PAIN. When that company changes it's mind we could move on to another and so on. I feel targeted boycotts will be more effective then general lists of companies to boycott.
My proposed boycott forum would have threads devoted to these targeted boycotts. It would state things like when the boycott is to start, when it should end (if ever), the products involved, who to contact/flood in the company to indicate that we're going to boycott them and what we want resolved in company policy.

Sam, I am with you.
Personally, I think keeping our money from these people is the only thing that will work. The grease for this movement is our hard earned dollars.
My idea is to boycott an entire industry - poultry being my first choice. It is heavy into illegals, it is a perishable product so they can warehouse it, and it employs enough illegals - it would make a showing.
If we just target Tyson, or Pilgrim's, they'll just move to another company. Besides these two own many other companies and we might not make a difference.
A boycott has to be simple, as you say, no long list. This one is so very simple. Just do without any poultry products - chicken, eggs, turkey, etc. for a few months. No extra driving, no labels to read, no searching or researching.
We would have to be concerted, targetted, and dedicated and not get discouraged. The news media will not let it out. Any press it got would be totally negative.
If we take on one industry - then move on to another - and another - by election time, we might not have to worry about so many illegals voting. Also, fewer would be coming to work and the BP's job would be a little more manageable.Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)
