COUNTER RALLY AGAINST STUMULUS PACKAGE: PIG UPSTAGES OBAMA'S PORK

Jim Pfaff, director of Americans for Prosperity, http://www.americansforprosperity.org/colorado, staged a counter rally against the Obama $900 billion stimulus package signed in Denver, Colorado, Tuesday, February 17,2009.

While President Obama landed in Denver to sign the largest spending package in the history of the United States, 500 Coloradans gathered at the Colorado State Capitol to protest selling future citizens into 'generational debt'.

Pfaff offered large, two feet by three feet, white checks that participants signed to promise to pay the government $30,000.00 for the Stimulus Package offered by Obama. Other signs circulated throughout the boisterous crowd. One showed Obama with red lipstick. Another sign read, "Why Atlas Shrugged" to indicate the Ayn Rand novel detailing the excellence of capitalism. One read, "Pork should be left on a pig!" Others read, "Socialism doesn't work."

A bevy of speakers lined up to address the enthusiastic crowd. Jim Pfaff fired up the audience by showing what the ultimate costs of the Stimulus Package would be for future generations. John Caldara, of the Independence Institute, brought more facts to bear on what future generations will face. Former Congressman Tom Tancredo said, "This bill should be named 'designed to fail bill' and the museum should be renamed 'Colorado Dumb Bill Museum' signing place."

Nationally syndicated columnist Michelle Malkin gave the crowd a rip-roaring speech that left them screaming for more. "We cannot tolerate this bill that will create 'generational debt," she said.

Everyone called it 'pork', but not like the man who brought a pig! A young man with a hairy porcine at the end of a dog leach walked up the steps of the capitol and presented the pig to dozens of media cameras. The audience roared as the press zoomed in on the pig. One of the speakers said, "This gives you an idea of the 'pork' in Obama's package."

Nancy Spence, Kent Lambert, Dave Schultheis, Mitchell and other Colorado legislators spoke out against the package.

One man, a U.S. Navy WWII veteran in a wheelchair, held a sign up with his protest against Obama's package. Mothers, fathers, grandparents and students cheered as every speaker brought a new aspect of the fallibilities of the Stimulus Package.

One protester yelled out, "I have a stimulus package idea…Obama needs to enforce our immigration laws and deport 20 million illegal aliens! That would give well-paying jobs back to Americans." The crowd cheered with approval.

Pfaff led the crowd with, "No more pork, nor more pork…."

U.S. Senator Schumer, yesterday, made a remark that the Stimulus Package didn't concern most American citizens.

One lady, Crista, stood with her three daughters on the steps of the capitol. Two weeks ago, she testified in Colorado Senate chambers to Senator Boyd, Williams, Bacon, Cadman and Schultheis, in favor of the E-Verify bill sponsored by Schultheis. Crista, a former Fortune 500 executive, told her horrific story of an illegal alien who called into 9-11 saying she tried to kill him in the yard. Ten minutes later, a SWAT team broke into her house, cuffed her and dragged her off to prison. It cost her $13,000.00 for lawyers to get the bogus charges dropped. She said, "If our laws had been enforced that illegal alien wouldn't be in Colorado and my life wouldn't have been a living horror for one year by that illegal criminal alien."

Interestingly, 15 Coloradans with similar stories testified in favor of the E-Verify at that committee meeting and only five, members of hotel/restaurant organizations who employ illegals, spoke against the bill. The Democratically controlled sub-committee voted the bill down.

Additionally, the E-Verify bill at the federal level suffered defeat in the Stimulus Package. According to Robert Rector of the Heritage Foundation, without E-Verify, in excess of 300,000 and as high as 1.5 million illegal criminal aliens in the USA will benefit from the Stimulus Package. Those illegals will displace Americans from jobs.

At the end of the rally, a catering service offered baked pig on a platter. It placed a punctuation mark for the end of the rally.

When Obama flew out of Denver, it might be noted that his three-jet entourage, complete with Obama-mobile, cost taxpayers nearly $100,000 an hour to operate. While taxpayers foot the bill for the Stimulus Package, they get taken for a ride while the president of the United States takes a ride.
