    True Story from Raleigh, NC

This is a true account from a buddy of mine that works at a Auto repair shop.

Background: There is a Mexican embassy the opened up recently in a shopping center at the corner of Six Forks Rd. and Wake Forest Rd. in Raleigh, NC. I buddy works right next to the embassy.

One day, he heard police sirens down the street and stepped out of the bay to see what was going on.. He saw a raleigh police officer chasing a vehicle. The vehicle being chased was being driven by a mexican who sped into the embassy's parking lot, jumped out of the car, gave the police officer the finger, cussing, and said something to the effect of "you can't get me" has he ran into the embassy!

I've seen that place! It has a huge Mexican flag flying and it is near the license tag office.

If it is an embassy, then it may be true their is immunity there. It is my understanding that embassy property is to be treated as the foreign soil of the nation that owns it.

It would not be an Embassy. It would be a Consulate Office. The Embassy is the one in each nation's capital city. The Consulate Offices are in major cities across the nation. I meant to point that out in my first reply. The Mexican Embassy, of which there is only one in the United States is in Washington DC.

BUT, it is my understanding that the Consulate Offices can prevent entry the same as an Embassy and therefore provide protection.

I'm not positive, but that is my understanding that once you are inside the gate of an Embassy or a Consulate Office, you are safe. You are unsafe as soon as you leave, so the police would have to wait out there for them to eventually come out.

    US4US,

Welcome to Alipac! I too live in your area, a few miles outside of Raleigh. Next time I'm in Raleigh, I'll check out the area you mention. Also, my family and I just went out for dinner yesterday at a Golden Corral in Raleigh. It's been at least six months since we've been to this chain and more than a year at the specific location we ate at yesterday. I didn't take a specific count, but I swear that at least 2/3 to 3/4 of the staff at this Golden Corral are Hispanic, and I'm only counting the staff who were in public view such as wait staff and those preparing food and in view at the buffet areas.

On our way out of this Golden Corral, I noticed another Hispanic (probably) male waiting with some employment information and forms in his hands.

How do I know they were mostly Hispanic? Well, in addition to appearance, name tags with hispanic first names as well as accents, I studied Spanish some in high school and college. I'm far from fluent (far from) but I can still pick out words and many of this staff of mostly 2/3 to 3/4 hispanics were speaking Spanish to each other when they weren't trying to speak broken English to customers such as me and my family.

I know about the growing illegal invasion that is overtaking the USA at an alarming rate, but this is the first time (other than eating at Mexican restaurants - which we rarely do anymore - and they rarely hire anyone that doesn't appear to be hispanic - where's the affirmative action police here???) I've noticed in a non-Mexican restaurant in my area where the percentage of hispanics is this high, i.e. at least 2/3 to 3/4 of the staff, at least the staff that I saw.

I won't be eating at this Golden Corral again and I plan to look into how I may report this assuming their illegal or at least some of them - but I cannot imagine that even most of them are "legal" citizens because of the high "illegal" hispanic population in the State of North Carolina as well as the USA in general.

    Anyone know how to proceed?

If I am not mistaken the Burger King near this has signs entirely in Spanish. If I had not been using free coupons in the first place I would have gone elsewhere. I will not be going there again. Also, something happened to my mother this morning in Cary that made me pretty angry. She went to the inspection station on Chatham St. to get her car inspected. The Mexican guy there was extremely rude to her. She was pretty certain he was Mexican because he didn’t speak English well and the other guy didn’t speak any at all. They were talking to each other in Spanish. She told him she wanted to get her sticker so she could get her current renewal. He told her that she couldn’t get her sticker until she got her renewal. That was the law in NC and if she didn’t like it she could move to another state. I can't believe this guy would say that to any American much less my mother. She happens to be a 8th generation North Carolinian. I know my mother. She isn’t the type to go anywhere and have an attitude towards the workers. Anyone else have any problems there?

You can thank Mike Easley and the NC DMV and El Pueblo for that.
