    MLB Needs our Help

I got this letter from NCLR's Ellie Klerlein, National Council of La Raza [policy@nclr.org]

Looks like they are planning on bullying the MLB into moving their ALl-Star game out of Arizona. Anyway, they have a form letter you can fax and I did just that but changed the text to suit my own feelings.

These last few days, Major League Baseball's (MLB) All-Star Weekend in Anaheim showcased baseball's top talent, uniting fans throughout the country to celebrate what makes the sport great: its diversity.

On Monday it was "Dominican Republic Night" at the Home Run Derby, with winner David Ortiz of the Boston Red Sox edging out Hanley Ramirez of the Florida Marlins. And during Tuesday's main event, a native Georgian, David McCann of the Atlanta Braves, had the night's biggest hit, driving in three runs and ending the National League's 13-year winning drought.

Yet all of these accomplishments will be in question when next year's All-Star Game is played. With the 2011 MLB All-Star Game scheduled to take place in Arizona, many of baseball's star players would be subject to discrimination and racial profiling under the state's new law, SB 1070.

Why should the game be played in an environment that's hostile toward baseball's best players, their families, and their fans? Tell MLB Commissioner Bud Selig to move the 2011 All-Star Game out of Arizona!

Call Commissioner Selig's office and urge him to change the place--not the face--of the 2011 All-Star Game.

    For English: (800) 657-5036
    Para Español: (88 626-0427

Don't let the voices of intolerance change baseball's identity! Join us in making sure that our national pastime is free of discrimination.

Urge MLB Commissioner Bud Selig to move the 2011 All-Star Game from Arizona!

Here is the form letter address:

    Sincerely,

    Ellie Klerlein

It takes you to the offices of the MLB, however you have to answer questions, etc.

The American people are the ones attending games and giving their money. The MLB should respect the concerns of the citizenry, and ignore the ethnocentric La Raza.

    This may be an alternative:

I am not honestly a fan of professional sports however, the sport of baseball is an American sport. I can't just sit back and let LaRaza and the left wing progressive nuts bully an American institution. As I faxed Selig, the MLB need to concentrate on playing sports and staying out of politics. Leave the darn game where it is and ignore LaRaza and all the left wing nuts.

I just got a confirmation of the email I sent through the LaRaza web site. It worked very well. Thanks LaRaza!

The email apparently came through this address:

    FanFeedback mlb7@maileu.custhelp.com

Below is a copy of the email I changed using the La Raza site.

    Dear Mr. Selig:

I am writing to ask you to keep the 2011 Major League Baseball (MLB) All-Star Game in Phoenix, Arizona where it belongs.

As you are aware, the Arizona legislature recently passed SB 1070, a bill that essentially sanctions the State of Arizona to do the job the Federal Government refuses to do.

Any of your Hispanic players that want to boycott the game can easily go back to where they came from if they don't like our laws. They are guest of the USA and are making a lot of money through this country's hospitality. I hope that you recognize the law for what it is—, a great law that supports fundamental values of the majority of Americans.

What does this law have to do with baseball? Absolutely nothing. Professional sports and the MLB need to stick to playing sports and stay out of politics. It is in the best interest of baseball to ignore the cries of the minority left and instead stick with providing a good game for those who pay their money to see baseball and not be involved in politics.

Don’t turn your back on America or the majority in favor of a few disgruntles left wingers who support breaking the laws of this country and those who have no respect for our laws. Keep the game in Arizona and refuse to allow the MLB to be involved in political issues. It’s the right thing to do.

Sorry, I don't agree. The administrators of the MLB should stand tall and straight in their convictions and tell La Raza and whoever to take a hike and that they'll schedule the All-Star game whereever they please. If people don't start standing up on their own, these groups will keep trampling on us. The MLB doesn't need us to help them..they need to say, just as the new proposed Arizona flag says, BITE ME!

I certainly agree that the MLB needs to do just that. However it never hurts to let them know how the majority feels. When only the minority is yelling and crying business get blackmailed into do what is not right. This country is in the mess it is in because the majority has been silent for too many years Its time for the majority to be heard. Let the MLB know they need to do the right thing or the majority will quit attending their games.

The directors of the MLB should be kept high and erect in their convictions and say La Raza and anyone going to do and they will give the All-Star game at will. If people do not begin to fend for themselves, these groups trample
