Keyes not selected by Constitution Party
Another hope dashed! The CP chose someone I never heard of, Chuck
Baldwin, pastor, writer and conservative talk show host.
I have removed my email from the CPs list.
Im still voting for Keyes if he is on TNs ballot. Good grief, is there no hope?PROMOTE SELF DEPORTATION, ENFORCE OUR
LAWS!

I would vote for Chuck Baldwin. He has written some good articles that were posted here.

I am not that familiar with him either, but here's a link to an article he wrote in 2006. http://www.newswithviews.com/baldwin/baldwin292.htm
Alan Keyes would have been a good high profile candidate, but he had several differences with the CP platform. That seemed to isolate him from the long-time CP members.
He didn't lose with grace, either.
Keyes wasn't exactly magnanimous in defeat, either. He said that the party whose nomination he sought was "governed by a spirit of dictatorship and despotism." In the same interview, Keyes protested that he had been invited into the Constitution Party and then likened himself to a fetus being aborted in the womb:
In the act of procreation, people are joyfully, ecstatically, with great joy in every fiber of their being, saying "yes" to the coming of that new life. And then in abortion, they kill it. So what, in fact, my political career is, is the paradigm and pattern of that which I am trying to stop for the child. I kind of represent, in political terms, the abortion. You're invited in, then they kill you. You're invited in, then they kill you."Always vote for principle, though you may vote alone, and you may cherish the sweetest reflection that your vote is never lost." -- John Quincy Adams

I like Chuck Baldwin, and have no axe to grind with him. Here's a different view of the recent CP Convention, however: http://lewislyspeaking.blogspot.com/200 ... -your.html

It doesn't really negate anything I said. Right or wrong, Keyes had major differences with the CP platform that isolated the long-time party faithful.
I don't hold out any theory that Baldwin is in any way a better choice than Keyes.
I liked Keyes' immigration position well enough, and I know next-to-nothing about Baldwin."Always vote for principle, though you may vote alone, and you may cherish the sweetest reflection that your vote is never lost." -- John Quincy Adams

I may very well vote for the CP as a protest - it depends what other choices can get ballot access in my State. But Baldwin's constant references to God and prayer turn me off a bit. I'm sure many of you out there who are more religious may disagree, but that's how I feel. And the CP's contention that America was founded as a Christian nation is just false. You will find reference to the Creator in our Constitution, but you will not find any reference to Jesus Christ. I don't say that to put down anyone's beliefs, it's just a fact.
