Does IRS check records of raided workplaces?

I have emailed the IRS to find out if they follow up on the workplace raids to look for Tax Evasion by the employers and workers. Why do we never hear of Tax Fraud cases against these employers?
Do we really think the taxes and Social Security payments are properly paid for all the illegal workers.
I have asked for statistics, real numbers, of these raided companies who are investigated for Tax Fraud.
The IRS wastes no time coming after me if I make an honest mistake, even if I can prove my innocence.

It's a good question Texan! I would be very interested to know the answer to that one myself. Common sense would led me to believe the answer is yes.

However, I have learned that common sense and our government should never be assumed to go hand in hand.

I think the IRS is more interested in Johhny Smith from Iowa who may have made an honest mistake rather than large corporations who cheat the government and it's citizens out of rightfully owed tax dollars, all in the name of greed.

Having logged some time in the Federal bureaucracy, let me offer a few thoughts -

    1. I like the basic idea. I think you will be more likely to elicit a constructive response if you were to accompany your request with an actual report of a problem. This is because an inquiry of a political nature (minus, the prospective FOIA request) can be ignored - with justification. Whereas, a report of wrongdoing must be given full consideration and at least token investigation efforts undertaken to find scope/scale of problems.

    2. This is another reason legislation such as the SAVE act is so important. One of it's seemingly minor provisions is to force information sharing/coordination between ICE/SSA/IRS. These organizations tend to hide behind privacy provisions written into law which prohibit the disclosure of personal [citizens?] information, between say, the IRS and SSA (and ICE of course). This is due to various and sometimes complex reasons (organization self-preservation [greater tax receipts - well, in theory], maintaining status quo in legal issues, genuine legal restrictions, etc)

Practically speaking, while many die hard libertarians would not like a greater coordination in information sharing between these agencies, they DO share information now - if done ad hoc, and on an 'as needed' basis (it is done for specific investigations all the time in fact...). I personally have no problem doing so. This is the crux of finding who in fact is present legally in the US and who is not.

I also believe that the groups opposed (US CoC, Ethnocentric pandering groups, etc) - while generally not aligned with staunch libertarian views, are quick to reject such greater coordination because it perpetuates the status quo and provides the IAs cover to remain 'in the shadows' in our society...not theirs.
