Scott Walker is FINISHED so Trump is our ONLY hope!

You guys saw this coming. He was pretty boring in the debate and they're ALL boring in speeches compared to Trump. Walker is only going to go down from here. We all know Santorum is a joke so Trump is our only hope to deport ALL illegals!

Lacking Oxygen and Charisma, Scott Walker goes from front runner to afterthought

Scott Walker is the Tim Tebow of politics…the pro-life, conservative sensation on top of the world (or the polls) one moment, the invisible man the next.


For those who don’t know Tebow’s NFL story, here’s the short version: Drafted in the first round by the Denver Broncos despite most pundits saying at the time he didn’t have the arm to succeed in the NFL. Tebow takes over a struggling Bronco team, leads a bunch of unlikely comeback victories late in the season and somehow gets them to the playoffs. God’s quarterback proceeds to carry Denver to a win over the defending-AFC-champion Steelers with an electrifying 80-yard touchdown TD pass on the first play of overtime. The media coverage is so huge it spills off the sports pages and ESPN and into the front page and cable news. Tebow waseverywhere.
The Broncos would fall badly to the Pats the following week. Tebow was abruptly traded to the Jets after GM John Elway made a deal for Peyton Manning. #15 would never really be heard from again after an uneventful season in New York, opting for a small role on ABC’s Good Morning America awhile after being released. He’s now back in the NFL trying to capture a third-string job with the Eagles.
Pre-Trump, Scott Walker was arguably the man to beat for the GOP nomination. Iowa was already practically in the bag, with Walker jumping out to a double-digit lead in the Hawkeye state and no real threat coming from establishment candidates like Jeb Bush. Backers reel off the laundry list: He’s the only guy in the race who won three gubernatorial contests in two election cycles. The Wisconsin governor is a union conqueror and debt dissolver…inherited a huge deficit and made it a surplus. And before running to the comments section and advising putting away the Walker pom-poms, do know my horse was declared in this space back in January. For the purposes of this column, this is simply an exercise of listing why Walker was considered a real contender for the nomination.
But then along came Trump and out came all the oxygen in the room. Some–like Ben Carson, Carly Fiorina, Ted Cruz and the afore-linked John Kasich have been able to find a few bubbles to riseabove the GOP frontrunner for long enough to get a rise on the polls, sure. And the one candidate who has absolutely disappeared–and we’re talking Ed Snowden-esque disappeared–it’s been the 47-year-old Walker. And the results have been devastating: An August 12th CNN/ORC poll shows he’s now running a distant third in Iowa (trailing Trump by 13 points and Carson by 5), in a state any and every political expert says he must win or can call it a day. Nationally, Walker is down to six percent support in a Fox News poll released today, his lowest number in over a year.
So what happened? Basically, Walker isn’t flashy. He’s not soundbite-driven in a media culture built around it. His seemingly-perpetual hound dog expression doesn’t result in almost any decent photos of him in terms of displaying intellect or gravitas. Call it shallow or superficial, but like it or not, this stuffmatters early on…particularly when being introduced to many voters for the first time.

I would disagree. Walker is not out of it just yet. He still has plenty of time to improve on his debate skills. Furthermore, I still think he has a good message, just needs to improve on his presentation. Personally, I support any candidate that I believe will not support an amnesty of any sort. For the record, I'm still not convinced that Trump will not support an amnesty ....... not until he comes off his message about expediting the return of those he considers "good" illegals.

I doubt it. Walker is just too boring and dull to catch fire. Like the article says he does have a hound dog look..LOL. Also the Dems will rip him to shreds for being the ONLY candidate in BOTH parties without a college degree!

Walker has other problems. His claim to fame was battling state employees, cutting their benefits and restricting their collective bargaining rights. Is that Pro-American Worker? He's now cutting funding to the University of Wisconsin by $250 million and handing it over to Sports Team Owners, most of whom are billionaires. It may be that the University of Wisconsin has more money that it needs or was squandering the money in some fashion, but that would surprise me. There's no reason for state governments to take education money and hand it out to sports team owners.

I totally agree with you MW on Trump's statements about bringing back deported illegal aliens who have "relatives" in the United States. He must change this aspect of his "plan". Once you're out, you're out, never to return here. Your relatives here legally can go visit you where you are, and your children born in the US should go home with you. What type of people or parents would divide their own families, attempt to orphan their children in a foreign country to get a welfare check? There are no "good" illegal aliens. And the sooner Donald Trump realizes that, the better. Illegal aliens have broken our laws, stolen jobs, benefits, educations, healthcare and welfare from US citizens. They run drugs, bring in disease, commit all types of crimes, form gangs, cheat our system, and export our money supply in remittances. There is nothing they do here that overrides or excuses the terrible and costly wrongs they have done to the American People and our nation by being here with breeding here and chain migration being at the top of the list. I think Trump is treading carefully to avoid issues with the large, violent and dangerous illegal alien "community". At the end of the day, I do not believe he will find any "good" illegals to re-admit. How could he when there aren't any?

So I'm going to support his plan with a few exceptions including this one, and hope that collectively, this nation will not allow it, so as he moves along in the race for the nomination, he will modify this plan or if elected make the right decision against re-entry when the time comes.

I support right to work laws, but I also support unions. I don't believe anyone should be forced to join a union if they don't want to, as a condition of employment, but there is no question that without unions most of the wage and working conditions in our country would be quite awful. Right to work laws including Wisconsin's apply to all workers and don't single out public service unions.

Wisconsin's right to work bill that passed is separate from the activities Walker directed specifically at state employees which I believe will not present a good platform for a Republican candidate in the 2016 elections where the Number One Issue will be Immigration and American Workers. We have to raise wages and salaries in the US so Americans can work at sustainable jobs with good benefits that pay the bills, allow for some savings, provide for retirement and upgrade our standard of living for American Citizens.

Given Walker's previous ignorance or disregard for American Workers with his earlier stances on immigration and his battle against state workers will give him the label of an anti-American worker candidacy. Sure, now that he's running for the top job in the country, he suddenly decides to trek to the border and meet with Sessions, and then and only then did he meekly come out against illegal immigration.

Trump has been on this bandwagon for 35 years and is not a Johnny Come Lately to win an election.

Furthermore, to cut funding for the University of Wisconsin means higher tuition costs paid by students who can't afford to pay the tuition now, so this is not a feather in his cap on any level, because it means he doesn't care about our students attending colleges and universities, especially those attending publicly-supported colleges and universities. To then turn around and want to hand out the same amount of money he cut from the university budget to a sports team to build a new arena, will not fly in a Republican Primary let alone a General Election, especially by a Governor who cut benefits for state workers to balance the budget.

Republicans and most Americans are 100% opposed to this corporate welfare. If the Bucks want a new arena in Milwaukee, then they need to figure out how to finance one. If the State of Wisconsin wants to participate in that, it should do so from budget surpluses, not cuts to university funding or out of the pockets of state workers. There are ways to do things, and then there are ways not to do things. Walker may be doing things in a way that works in Wisconsin, but they are not the things that will support a national election for President. We want a candidate that can win November and Walker is not that person.

You can stick a fork in him. Walker is a goner. So is Jeb Bush. This is the election of the anti establishment candidate. Trump should get the nomination. The only other contenders are Carson, Cruz, and maybe Fiorina.

I don't understand the fascination with Carson. He is not even as tough on immigration as the rest of the anti-establishment candidates. He is a doctor that has no clue on many of these issues. Trump has created TENS of THOUSANDS of jobs and has a background in finance from the Wharton school of business. I don't see how being a brain surgeon helps being presdient unless Carson wants to operate on Obama! :D

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker told Fox News on Monday he supports building a wall along the U.S-Mexico border and ending birthright citizenship, echoing GOP frontrunner Donald Trump’s immigration plan.
“Earlier in the year, I was on ‘Fox News Sunday’ and laid out what I thought we should do, which is secure the border, which means build the wall, have the technology, have the personnel to make sure it’s safe and secure,” he said, building on remarks he made in March.

Walker also said he wanted to end birthright citizenship, echoing Trump’s immigration platform. Trump called for America to stop automatically granting U.S. citizenship to any child whose mother manages to break into the country and give birth.

“This remains the biggest magnet for illegal immigration,” he wrote in his highly-detailed immigration reform plans geared to serve the interests of Americans, instead of foreigners. “By a 2:1 margin, voters say it’s the wrong policy, including Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV) who said ‘no sane country’ would give automatic citizenship to the children of illegal immigrants.”Foreigners with no affection or loyalty to America can use these children — “anchor babies,” in common parlance — to latch onto the social safety net and take advantage of one of the most valuable possessions in the world: U.S. citizenship.
Notorious Mexican drug lord El Chapo sent his wife, herself an anchor baby and daughter of another drug lord, to give birth to twins in California. In another example of an immigration success story, federal authorities knew exactly what El Chapo was planning but refused to stop his family form gaining a foothold in the U.S.

Nearly one in 10 babies in the U.S. are children of illegal aliens: Approximately 350,000 to 400,000 children automatically become U.S. citizens every year. Democrats use birthright citizenship as a means to change demographics rather than voters’ minds.

As Center for Immigration Studies legal policy analyst Jon Feere explained before Congress in April:

Under the immigration enforcement priorities of the Obama administration, illegal immigrants who give birth to U.S. citizens have become low priorities for deportation. Furthermore, the president’s DAPA program, the Deferred Action for Parents of Americans and Lawful Permanent Residents program, currently held up in court would provide benefits to illegal immigrants who gave birth here and allow them to ‘stay in the U.S. without fear of deportation.’ The broad interpretation of the Citizenship Clause forms the basis for these policies.

Some Republicans, led by Trump, appear as though they are beginning to grasp how immigration policy is used to loot the middle class and disenfranchise Republican voters.

You're just getting picky now. Of course he knows we don't have a national mandatory E-Verify law. I'm sure he is implying that we should. Geez, I thought the news that he supports E-Verify, ending birthright citizenship, and a border fence/wall would make you happy. Just because you jumped the Trump bandwagon doesn't mean you can't support another candidates position on illegal immigration and border security.

His focus will be enforcing the law, not deporting illegal aliens, by focusing on E-Verify. Well, today the only E-Verify law that exists applies only to the federal government and government contractors, so he has no national E-Verify law to focus on that will have any impact throughout the country. And although he says he supports ending birthright citizenship, he wouldn't answer the question about deporting children of illegal aliens. When asked he said "I didn't say that ..." and moves on to focusing on a law that doesn't exist and of course won't apply to children to begin with.

And then when he was asked about ending birthright citizenship, he flips back to E-Verify again and solving "root problems" to solve the automatic birthright citizenship problem.

So, Walker's solution or "plan" is to rely upon enforcement of a law that doesn't exist. Therefore, I don't believe he'll take any steps to deport illegal aliens, enforce US immigration law or end birthright citizenship of children of illegal aliens. All he is going to do is enforce a law that doesn't yet exist and put the "onus" on employers if there ever is one. So with that lackluster view of our problem, we'll all die of old age before he builds 1 foot of "wall".

3 months ago, Scott Walker who has worked in government in one position or another since 1993, didn't even know enough about our country to know we had an illegal immigration problem and even now supports the TPP trade agreement.

Trump on the other hand has been "bombasting" against illegal immigration and free trade treason for 35 years as a businessman.

So, my personal feeling is that Trump will do more to solve illegal immigration, excess legal immigration and free trade treason than Scott Walker. Trump is doing well, but he still has a long way to go, because there are still so many candidates in the race splitting the polls, and Trump still has other issues to address. I'm not committed yet because of some of the other issues, but regardless of who I eventually commit to, our country will owe Donald Trump big time for making our issue the Number One Issue of the 2016 Elections and according to Pat Buchanan, The Issue of the Century.

You're of course free to support Walker or any other candidate of your choice whenever and for any reason you choose, as are we all. Something you might want to keep in mind when you choose your words for posting on this forum.

Did you post this to point out that Scott Walker's state of Wisconsin has no version of a state E-Verify law, not even one pending? Yeah, Wisconsin is that gray state above red Illinois and pink Minnesota.

Again, there is no national E-Verify law in the United States. There is a federal government and contractor E-Verify law but no national E-Verify law for Scott Walker to enforce. And likely won't be given the number of gray states still on the map and only 4 states that have passed mandatory statewide E-Verify laws. And since he hasn't felt the need to push one in his own state, it's unlikely that he would do so as President.

Walker is lack-luster and really doesn't understand or care anything about the issue beyond the "talking points" he picked up from Jeff Sessions and Governor Abbott to try to be President. That's why when he gets off script, he can answer the questions and just runs back to "enforce the law" and "E-Verify" not even understanding that there is no national law E-Verify law to enforce.
