My conversation today with a LEGAL immigrant

I have an aquaintance who is a Venezuelan immigrant, who worked hard and waited years for her papers. I asked her today about her views on illegal immigration. She said that they (Mexicans) do not want to learn English, do not want to be Americans. Just want to work hard for a few years and send all the $$ back to Mexico so they can live the high life there in a nice house and big cars. She passed on several things to me:

    1) She knows a Mexican woman that knew English very well, but seemed to think it was 'dirty' to speak it, as if betraying her people and becoming one of 'them'. Her boss had interpreters for her, but she never let on that she knew.
    2) Another female co worker would come into work late claiming her husband beat her, and she had the swollen eyes from him. Her bosses felt bad and wanted to help her. She would later laugh behind his back and tell the other Hispanics that her tardiness and her eyes were due to the night before she was out late drinking and partying. (Sidebar - Charlotte Observer just had an article about how illegal women that were victims of domestic abuse could get their papers if they reported the crime.)

    3) She applied for a job in a Mexican resturant but they would not hire her, even being bi-lingual. They only wanted to hire MEXICANS. (Now where is the racism here?)

    4) Another resturant she worked at had illegals and they were all talking about what they would do if ICE showed up (hiding and running). When they asked her, she just shrugged and said she had nothing to run from, she was legal. She was isolated cause she was legal, they snubbed her.

    5) Her parents are here in America on Visas and her elderly mother needed dental and medical work done. So they went back to Venezuela and had all their work done there cause it is so cheap. I respected that, cause they didn't have it done here with taxpayers covering it.

    6) She said she fears for her country cause of Chavez is so evil. She said the Mexicans have no idea what they have in Mexico, it is not as bad as Venezuela. She is a proud American, a devoted Christian, and hard working woman that knows English very well.

I am so proud of her. And even madder at my country.(president)

Ronny, thanks for this wonderful information. Clearly there is an organized effort in this country to hire illegals. The companies know they will get away with it because our government has made the decision to turn a blind eye to this. Absolute collaboration with the Mexican government and other powers that be to undermine U.S. law and soverignty (sp). We can't let them get away with this, no matter what the cost!

As long as her parents don't over stay their visas, I agree , otherwise no more ," anchor legals " .

This woman sounds like she is fooling someone .

If her parents were just here on a " visa ' than why didn't they wait till they went home to get their dental work done ? Sounds to me like they live here and just go there for cheap dental care . Send their butts back along with the other's who over stay visas .

Venezuela, El Salvador, Dominican Republic, Ireland, Poland......illegal is illegal and legal is legal.

This Venezuelan has no right to criticize Mexicans as if she was somehow better. How does she feel about illegals from Venezuela? (Granted she is legal!)

The bottom line is this....if people in all these countries have good jobs and education and health care then they will stay in either Venezuela or Mexico or China. But should the US lose good jobs to Mexico and China so this investment can make those countries stronger? If you pay $6 for a gallon of gas remember you pay this so that some guy in China or India can now have a car and GM is making thatcar in China. Is this good for you somehow? Read below!!

I still go fishin' with a couple guys I worked with in the past. They both came here legally, and brought their families over the same way. By the book. They can spot illegals a mile away, and they aren't too shy about letting it be known to them that they aren't welcome. I don't know what they tell them in spanish, but the illegals usually don't stick around, even if they outnumber us.

I suppose I could ask, but I don't like to pry, and figure if they wanted me to know what they said, they would tell me. So I leave it that, other than, let me know if you need me to stand with you. I'm there in a heatbeat.

My Brazilian friend came here LEGALLY 30 years ago, attended the University of Tennessee in Memphis, earned a BACHELOR'S in FOREIGN languages, EDUCATION, and BUSINESS there. Then she taught elementary and high school in Tennessee and later in Dallas, TX. She ALSO dislikes ILLEGAL immigration. She is ESPECIALLY disgusted with immigrants who REFUSE to LEARN English and ASSIMILATE. She believes that providing EVERYTHING in FOREIGN languages only DETERS immigrants from learning English. She told me that the FIRST thing she did on arriving here was to find and attend FREE English classes and within SIX months, she had learned ENOUGH English to LAND her FIRST job in OUR country! She, too, has been VICTIMIZED by FOREIGN racism. In 2005 she was DERIDED by a Mexican college professor for being a BRAZILIAN and when she defended herself and her culture, he had her FIRED! Only two months later, and STILL homeless, my friend went to a local Catholic church to seek legal help for obtaining housing, but the church told her that THEIR lawyers help ONLY ILLEGALS! While illegal immigration upsets ME, an AMERICAN citizen, it REALLY riles my Brazilian friend!

Isn't that the truth talk about RACISM.

I have a friend from Chile. Her family came here many years ago legally. She has her degree from UCLA and speaks five languages fluently. She only spoke English here at home. When she traveled she could speak their language. Once while traveling alone for three months in France, she shared a cab with another man. They sat their in French bad mouthing Americans. Of course, the cab driver assumed she was South American. WELL, she paid him the fare but before she got out of the cab, she gave him her opinion and didn't mince any words. She told him "I'm an American. I'm a naturalized American. I'm an American BY CHOICE not by an accident of birth. I would never give up my adopted country or my citizenship there to live in France or any other third rate country such as yours. France is nice to visit but that's all. So if I see your cab again, never stop for me."

I had to laugh Thalia was just a no nonsense woman who told you like it is no matter the subject. Love her.

Whats the difference in anchor babys and anchor relatives ? When are the rest of her family arriving , the brothers ,sisters her parents left behind ,like all their kids, then of course the cousins,etc.etc.etc. ?
