ITIN question
Can a person with an ITIN number in which the form says for tax purposes only be register to vote?
Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote!

dragonfire,
First, all work visa holders have ITIN numbers.
Every state law is different. As proof of ID, to get a registration card, some states require a SS number, other's require proof of residence, utility bills, others accept a government document...
Look at your state laws regarding voter registration and the types of documents they accept. Call your local election office and ask them.

Resident aliens (green card holders) and visa holders (those who are eligible to work) have SS numbers.
ITIN numbers are no use for getting a driving licence so likely will not be acceptable for registering to vote.
Dependents of certain visa holders are not allowed the privilege of social security numbers until such time as they get employment authorization. These people can reside here legally but not allowed to work, such as H4 visa holders.

ITIN
ITIN's are only to be used to file tax returns. The numbers are only issued to those ineligible for Social Security numbers, which usually means, not a citizen-therefore-NO VOTE.
The IRS clearly states that an ITIN is NOT to be used for identification purposes, although banks and credit companies accept ITIN's for loan applications.
The crazy thing is that to file taxes on wages, the ITIN holder must use a Social Security number, which is by law REQUIRED for legal workers. That is why they all use made up or stolen social security numbers to work and file taxes.
