New Legislative Map in Test of Latino Strength
New Jersey Prepares to Release New Legislative Map in Test of Latino Strength
By Elizabeth Llorente
Published April 02, 2011
Using the 2010 Census results to redraw legislative districts, New Jersey Hispanics and legislators debate whether to concentrate minority voters in a few districts, or spread them over many.
Latinos are nearly 20 percent of New Jersey’s population, but a mere six percent of the state legislature.
This weekend, that playing field may change for Hispanics, or stay the same -- for at least a decade.
That is when an 11-member commission working on redrawing the state’s legislative districts is expected to decide on the new legislative map. The commission is made up of five Democrats, five Republicans, and a neutral tie-breaker, in this case a professor from Rutgers University.
The process, which usually is contentious in New Jersey and elsewhere, is being particularly closely watched by Hispanics, who say that they have been ill-served by redistricting efforts in the past.

a big proportion of latinos are here ILLEGALLY!
Illegals CANNOT vote, it's against the law!!!!
So say you get a Hispanic candidate. Now what, who is going to vote for him/her? Hispanic Americans? Perhaps, yes. Then is that going to be enough? Well in the southwest of US it might, perhaps but again illegals cannot vote!!!
La Raza and other crass Hispanic ethnic demographic hegemony muscle flexers keep trying to instill fear in all of us that they are coming and watch out because latino power is =going to kick the anglo's butt. Excuse me? have we lost our minds? It is time to call this for what it is and call out these people who look to balkanize our country. 20 to 30 % of Hispanics are here in the US ILLEGALLY! Go home. We can now see how obvious this Hispanic push is what those so-called leaders are looking for. They want an American Canada. No way my friend America has woken up. Deport them, cut off the jobs, healthcare, education welfare etc. So our Hispanic Americans and legal Hispanics have a chance at the American dreams!
