People who espouse conservative ideologies, such as “wanting to make the world a better place,” were recently surprised to learn a lot of the values they embrace actually make them potential “extremists,” “racists” or “terrorists” in the eyes of the Department of Defense, according to a recently exposed training manual.
In response to the full-frontal demonization campaign, the hashtag #IMustBeAnExtremistBecause has taken off as a trending Twitter topic, with quite a few people making some insanely extremist statements, such as “#imustbeanextremistbecause I believe the Constitution is still relevant,” and “#IMustBeAnExtremistBecause I think the government wastes entirely too much of our money.”
Here are a few of the more extremist thoughts being propagated through the social media site:
#IMustBeAnExtremistBecause I believe a two parent home is extremely important.

Conservative watchdog organization Judicial Watch recently obtained the DoD training manual through a Freedom of Information Act request. The manual listed people who embrace “individual liberties” and honor “states’ rights,” among other characteristics, as potential “extremists” who are likely to be members of “hate groups.”
“Nowadays,” the manual explained, “instead of dressing in sheets or publicly espousing hate messages, many extremists will talk of individual liberties, states’ rights, and how to make the world a better place.”
