Peter D'Oench MIAMI (CBS4) ― At least six people have been arrested for illegally buying and selling commercial truck licenses.

According to CBS4 News partner The Miami Herald, authorities from federal, state and local agencies conducted a series of early morning raids throughout Miami-Dade County Friday morning and arrested half a dozen people who allegedly obtained fraudulent commercial driver's licenses.

According to the Herald, an Army National Guard Sergeant named Steven Baez illegally sold Department of Defense waivers for hundreds of dollars that allowed the suspects to obtain the commercial licenses.

A commercial truck license allow drivers to operate large semi-trucks, which could weigh more than 26,000 pounds, without ever passing the proper driving test. They also allow school bus drivers to operate buses.

The arrested were: Gregory Diaz, 23; Lina Belkis Diaz, 43; Jesus Luis Montesino, 48; Adalberto Ramos, 40; and Jacinto Ramos. Luis Enrique Diaz, 38, turned himself in later in the morning.

Police expect they will make more arrests. Officials say nearly 200 people have purchased the waivers through Baez.

Baez, according to the Herald, pleaded guilty in federal court in October, to conspiracy to cause the production of false identification documents and bribery of a public official.

His sentencing is scheduled for January 16th.
