SB 362 - [Rep. Frazer (R)-Marble Falls] is on the agenda for House debate on Saturday, May 23, 2009 -- NO TIME SPECIFIED IN NOTICE BUT HOUSE NORMALLY CONVENES AT 9 OR 10:00 A.M.

ARE WE SURPRISED THAT THEY WOULD SCHEDULE THIS DEBATE FOR A SATURDAY ON MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND??!! NO......IF POSSIBLE, PLEASE ATTEND TO SHOW SUPPORT FOR VOTER ID.

SB 362 relates to requiring a voter to present proof of identification.

IF....Rep. Delwin Jones (R) - Lubbock, TX; Rep. Tommy Merritt (R) - Lufkin, TX; Rep. Dennis Bonnen (R) - Angleton, TX; Rep. Todd Smith (R) - Euless, TX; & Speaker Straus (R) - San Antonio, TX come on board and vote for SB 362 -- we can be successful. Previously, per a Texas GOP alert, 71 Republicans signed on to support Voter ID -- we need the above Republicans on board as well.

When you make your calls, please tell them that you want a REAL PHOTO VOTER ID bill. Though this bill is not strong enough, it is a step in the right direction.

Also that same day, SB 366 [Sen. Carona (R) - Dallas] will be on the floor for a vote as well.

SB 366 relates to authorizing consecutive sentencing for certain offenses committed by a member of a criminal street gang.

Call your Representative (see contact info links below) and tell him/her to VOTE for SB 362.

We will peaceably assemble on the Texas State Capitol steps on MEMORIAL DAY with SIGNS. Speakers Will Be Present to talk about what RECOURSE TEXANS HAVE AGAINST UNCONSTITUTIONAL GOVERNMENT LAWS AND ACTIONS. TEXAS LEGISLATORS WILL HEAR OUR COLLECTIVE VOICE THIS DAY!
