    9-YEAR OLD MATEDOR!

I saw a clip this morning on the CBS Early News about a 9 year old bullfigher. They showed video of the child being thrown up in the air by the bull and then trampled. When he stood up unharmed, thousands of Mexicans cheered wildy. They said he was becoming very popular. I have never seen anything that illustrates the great divide in cultures than this. When you can go to jail, in this country, just for spanking a child, these people are putting them in the BullRing!! What made it more sickening was the CBS newslady grinned, as if to say, "ain't he cute." Just unbelievable!

I can't believe anybody would allow their child to do this. Maybe he was an orphan. Does ANYONE defend these children??

yep...that is pretty sick...but remember some of these folks also like having a barnyard of animals crammed in 110 sq feet of a front yard too...hey...I have a couple neighbors down the street with roosters in their yard and this is a residential area not zoned for livestock...cracks me up...kinda... so I'm observing a cultural thing

Um... there's actually kids riding bulls here in the U.S. too. One of my friends (she is white and here legally) has a brother who started going to this school at the age of 8. They recommend that you be 14, but as long as your parents sign the waiver and pay the classes you are in.

Just thought i'd post this so you'd be more informed. We are talking about Immigration issues here, no need to bash people's hobbies or interests.

Well, I don't agree with bull riding either, but it's a bit different than "fighting" one and the point was the culture difference which has been talked about a lot.

Bull riding is actually more dangerous than bull fighting, as I'm sure any accomplished bull rider (or anyone who has been to a Texas rodeo for that matter) will tell you. In bull fighting, they have people come into the ring and tire the bull out completely before the "fighter" even gets in the ring. As for the cultural difference, when it comes to kids being in contact with bulls there is no "cultural" difference. Like i said, there are people here in America who get a kick out of it too. It's a great sport and many law abiding American citizens enjoy it.

As a former Texan, I have been to many rodeos and have nothing against either and I wouldn't pay much attention to a 14 year old doing either sport. It's just my opinion that a 9 year old shouldn't be doing either with a full-grown bull and as a parent and grandparent, I could not condone either but if someone wants to do so, then that's fine. BTW, they apparently didn't tire that bull down enough since he was tossed in the air and almost killed, but that's just the nature of the sport I guess. Have a good one. I certainly didn't mean to step on anyone's toes.

So it's fine once you know AMERICANS are doing it, but horrific when Mexicans do it?

Nope, not for a 9 year old American or Mexican with a full-grown bull. I have nothing else to say. You are starting to give me the impression of trolling.

That is because they can't make them into Gladiators.

And, no, I am not interested in defending the rights of children who will probably make their way northward to the border to invade my country one day.

matter of fact, I won't even donate to the Shriners in my area anymore because they get kids from across the border and bring them into TX for care when they have not only shriners but also doctors and hospitals in Mexico.

i know it sounds cold and callous but I'm taking care of enough of them against my will here to defend their rights, their safety or worry about their welfare elsewhere.
